Introducing Pleiades! This is one of the most famous objects in our night sky. What makes it such a popular target? Well, you don't have to wait for someone to take a picture of it, because you can see it with the naked eye! Around 10pm it begins to rise in the east and if you are a night owl, it is straight up around 1am. It looks like a small cluster of stars. Some say it looks like a very tiny dipper.

Another fascinating discovery is through the Bible. This star cluster is actually mentioned in the book of Job.

“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? Job 38:31
Who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south; Job 9:9

A great reminder to the glories of God's creation. The One who hung every star in the sky and created everything we see and know.

Here is my latest project, M16 the Eagle Nebula! The Eagle Nebula is a fascinating target that can only be seen low in the sky during the summer as the core of the milky way comes into view. I took this image in one night at the Kissimmee Prairie Preserve dark sky park with my Skywatch 250P telescope that has 1000mm focal length. I needed a much bigger telescope in order to capture this target as it is smaller in the night sky than the targets I have been posting. This is also my first post with my new telescope! Took me several months to get it to work properly, but I have a few images I'm excited to show you in the coming months.

Another fascinating aspect of this target is the middle which hold the famous Pillars of Creation. The Hubble's capture of this target is what helped make astrophotography famous.

The Eagle name comes from the circle top as the head and the wings coming to the side of the nebula. With the Pillars of Creation being the body or the heart of the eagle. What do you see when you look at this picture? Would you call it the Eagle or would you call it something else?

Completed Night 1 of imaging! It’ll take a few days to process the final image from my telescope, but for now, here’s a quick shot I captured with my iPhone while my telescope was aimed at the Lagoon Nebula, near the Milky Way’s galactic core. 🔭🌌❤️

It is the Lunar Eclipse! AKA The Blood Moon! First time capturing the moon with this setup, took a few tweaks but I was able to pull it all together when the moment arrived. Pretty wild to see in person.

It's time to capture a new frontier! First light with my Sky Watcher 250P Quattro. I was in the middle of getting everything setup when my wife asked me to smile and took a quick pic. Now I'm taking pictures of M81 also known as Bode's Galaxy! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Happy Thanksgiving! What am I thankful for? God’s creative glory in the heavens. Introducing the Flaming Star Nebula on the right and the Tadpole Nebula on the left.

Do you think the names fit? If not, what what you would call them in the comments?

The Tadpole Nebula, also known by the more technical name IC 410, is located over 12,000 light years away in the northern constellation Auriga. This is an emission nebula where two tiny tadpole looking dark dust clouds in the middle. In this image they appear white. Can you spot them?

The Flaming Star Nebula or IC 405 on the right is a pretty large and impressive target. Hydrogen emission gas makes up the flame and the ripples or waves create a truly fascinating image.

This target was captured over two nights with 19 hours of data while taking a last minute trip to Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. The skies were pristine and it was great having friends come join me on each night. Nolan, my 7 year old, was my assistant and we are both pretty happy with the results. Would love to hear your thoughts as well! Share below.

Here we have the Elephant Trunk Nebula! Though my wife calls it the cat smoof. But, I am honestly not even sure what that means. The reason for the Elephant Trunk is from the prominent dust cloud going from the bottom left up to the middle is said to look like an Elephant's Trunk. Is that what you see? If not, here is your chance to tell us what you think this resembles. Comment below!

This deep space project consisted of 7 nights of data and taking only the best 13 hours to process into this picture. I actually threw out probably half of the pictures to try and get the best quality I could. This was a pretty intense project for me and the results are simply stunning. I used my Askar 400 telescope with my dedicated astrophotography camera from ZWO called the 2600MC. The mount is the ZWO AM5 and this picture was captured in my backyard under the light pollution of Walt Disney World.

This emission nebula has a more official name of IC 1396 and can be found in the constellation Cepheus. It has a star cluster in the middle of it and some fascinating details. In the three years I have been photographing the night sky I have never attempted this target before. So, this was a joy to capture and a challenge to edit. While I am always working on my technique, I am pretty happy with the results. If you like it, give it a like and if you love it, share it with your friends.

Two images in two day! Yes! I had completed the data for this a few weeks ago but had not taken the time to process the image so that I could post it. Introducing the North American Nebula and the Pelican Nebula. I'll see if you can pick out which one is which. To me, this one is very simple, but my family likes to rename these based on what they see. In this case they call it the screaming skull nebula. The Nebula on the left is screaming at the nebula on the right. The problem with this is......now I can't unsee it! One name that is not debated is NGC 7000. This is the more technical name for the Nebula on the left. IC 5070 on the right.

Located in the constellation Cygnus just under Deneb, which is one of the bright stars in the night sky, these two Nebulas are also very bright. However, it still would be very difficult to see them without a telescope and camera. Yet, it is with the right equipment, you can see this truly beautiful emission nebula.

I used my Askar 400 telescope with ZWO gear making up the rest. The AM5 mount, 2600MC camera, and the ASI software to help me with guiding and image capture. While I wish I could see this looking through my telescope, it is a lot of fun capturing the images and watching the nebula come to life.

I took about 12 hours of data for this image. Data is captured in 2 minute intervals. So, that is a lot of pictures stacked on top of each other! The final image is 100% worth it. Enjoy!
