Hey friends and clients. I'm sorry to report that things are tough for us right now but we're getting there! We got away and that was the biggest obstacle. I have a fundraiser up if anyone wants to help us in creating our new, safe space. We still have a lot of speed bumps and bad days ahead, so every little bit helps. Even just sharing! Thanks and love to you all.

Look, I get it, there’s a million reasons to keep putting off those updated portraits of the kids and your family. The economy isn’t great, you’re super busy, you don’t know what to wear, don’t even know where you would choose to have them done. The last time you had them done, the photographer tried to make your kids sit and pose and pay attention to the camera. You ended up with fake smiles, tears in between the sets and photos that never made it to your living room wall. You always think you have more time, until you don’t. Kids don’t stay kids for long. One day, you’re changing diapers and fawning over those little coos and squeaks and then 10 minutes later, that sweet baby is calling you “Bruh” and has a whole personality all of their own. Your kids are going to go through about a million different personalities until they settle into who they’re going to be as an adult. And once that happens, you’ve lost your chance forever to capture the boisterous dino-loving astronaut, or the fearless pony queen of some mystical land. That favorite shirt or dress you’re sick of washing over and over will suddenly be in the “too-small” pile and you’ll wish you had just ONE great photo of them wearing it along with a wide, genuine, toothless grin.

As they say, the days are long, but the years are short. Why waste another moment on thinking of reasons NOT to book that session? Start thinking of all the reasons why you SHOULD.
After 20 successful and fulfilling years as a professional portrait photographer, I can tell you with absolute certainty that not only will you like your photos, you’ll be obsessed with them.. Or your money back (or a reshoot). How can I guarantee this to you, the client? Because I know what works. I know exactly how to capture your child being their authentic, beautiful, unique selves. I know exactly how to put my personal brand of editing into work for you, so that each and every image delivered to you is promised to WOW you in every way.
These days, all the work looks the same. The same poses. The same edits. The same everything. Why? Because a vast majority of the photographers in your area are not the pros they claim to be. It’s so easy these days to go out and buy a decent camera and lens and watch a few webinars (by people who really have no business teaching others) and then slap that “professional” in front of “photographer”. It’s maddening, not just for the clients who are consistently getting generic, mediocre work, but for the true pros who have worked hard to get where they are the right way. Those mini-shoot pushing momtographers are out there trying to dupe you into giving them your hard earned money for work they have no business charging for. They have no training. They don’t know how to properly use their cameras. They are relying on AI technology to fix their poor quality photos and pass them off as “acceptable”. It’s an epidemic in the industry, where mediocrity has become the standard and it hurts everyone involved.

You can be confident in booking with Dayna Lea Photography because you are getting quality, truly professional, award-winning, fine art portraiture. I let children lead me. I’ve mastered the art of blending into the environment so that my clients don’t feel like they are under scrutiny of the lens. I know light and how to use it to bring your photos to life. My editing style is 20+ years in the works and has been fine tuned to give you, the client, the most emotional, thought-provoking, tear-jerking photos that you deserve to have. I will help you every step of the way, from helping you decide what to wear to location and more. I’ve worked with countless families and clients over the years and there’s no obstacle or request too great. If you can dream it, I can make it a reality.

They’re only this version of themselves for a short time. Why waste one more minute letting it pass by when you can spend 60 minutes with me and have these precious, fleeting days immortalized forever? If it’s price that’s holding you back, all you have to do is send me a message to talk about your options. Every single package is customizable and payment plans are available. Stop throwing out $100 in search of fine art portraits. You’re not going to find what you’re looking for. Cheap photography isn’t good and good photography isn’t cheap. But let me tell ya, great photography is an investment in your future. Because that’s the best way to bring your memories with you through time. You’ve gone long enough without gorgeous work on your walls that you can be proud of. Let’s change that today.

What's up my beautiful friends and shutterbugs?! What are ya'll doing this 4th of July? Got any summer themed sessions booked? Floating down a river in a tube drinking white claws?

I've been spending my time these last few days writing out all of my personal 'rules and processes' for every kind of style/lighting situation you might find yourself in. I see so many other professionals go on and on about how they are so proud of their consistency. YES... being consistently good is a MUST. However, that's not all they mean. I've watched countless other little online webinars from some other pros in the biz and they all say the same thing... Nail down your shooting and editing style and stick to it. WHY? When a client comes to you and says they want studio style portraits or a light and airy family session and you reply with "That's not really my style" what you're really telling them is "I don't know how to confidently execute what you want"

I disagree 150% that you should showcase ONLY one type of shooting and editing style. If you're truly a master of your camera and your talent, you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever with any kind of lighting or situation. And the more you know, the more you can offer, the more money you're bound to make. My clients come to me and know that NO MATTER WHAT style they want their session to be in, I can give it to them without breaking a sweat.

Learning light and difficult situations only makes you a better artist. Whether you're professional or just love to hit that shutter release for your own joy and benefit.
SO, with all that said, I would love to share my basic tips and tricks of the most common lighting scenarios. I'll be posting a new one every week on Teach Me Tuesdays! I truly hope to see some of you come check it out and share your work after putting some of those things into action! Talk to each other in the group, get some conversations going and let's get creative. STAY HYDRATED!! This heat is NO joke. Whoever has weddings this week, may the odds be ever in your favor.
