This rainy weather has me longing for those beautiful Golden Hour sessions from a couple months ago.

This season was absolutely magical. Because of the severe burnout I felt last year, I chose to take on a few less clients this year and it truly made such a difference. I felt passionate about my work again and still feel a desire to create even after the long season.

I have some fun new things coming in 2026 - stayed tuned!

The number one piece of advice I can give to my clients for authentic family portraits is to just interact with their children. I love a beautiful posed portrait like the first image in this set, but the second is also so sweet. The way these two are looking at each other just melts my heart.

It’s always such a special experience for me to photograph this family, as they are some of my dearest friends and most loyal clients. I came to the hospital to photograph their eldest the day she was born, and 8 years later I am still watching these two grow up in front of my lens. 🖤🤍

There are few things I love more about editing than rescuing a sunset. I shoot with only natural light (for now!), so I have to be very mindful of how I expose and edit images when I am hoping to capture the best colors of a sunset. I was worried I may not be able to save this one, but I am so happy with how it turned out. Be sure to swipe for the before and afters!

Often during my sessions there are certain photos that just speak to me and I can’t really explain why - this was one of those images. I love a moody black and white candid shot, and the expression on this sweet girl’s face caught my eye when I was culling through this session. She had just stepped in deep sticky mud and was looking over at her parents for reassurance that she was ok (despite the fact that her sparkly sandals were certainly filthy). The look on her face combined with her wild windswept curls, it’s all just absolutely precious.

Rattlesnake Lake certainly ended up being my favorite location for family photos this year. This specific tree stump was my go to for the last shot of each session, when the sky was at peak colors for sunset.

Such a beautiful moment between a mother and her daughter.

My time at the was such a wonderful reminder that what we do as photographers matter. What we provide to our clients is a gift. Our work is an investment worth making - to freeze moments like this forever.

We had the most gorgeous sunset for this session! At first I was worried the sky would be too “blown out” to save - this is a common problem when attempting to photograph a sunset while also exposing for your subject. But as you can see, I was able to save the clouds in post production (swipe for the before image) and I’m so in love with the colors here!
