I’ve been blessed with 15 years of growing my photography business from the ground up.
At one time(For several years) it was just a hobby, and as it evolved and gained momentum it was ultimately how I provided for my daughters as a single mother. It fed me and I fed it.
I wasn’t always kind to it, and at times I hated it, because life was either moving too fast or not fast enough, sometimes life wasn’t going the direction I wanted. But it stayed constant and never fizzled out, mainly because it’s always been part of who I am, and as my business grew, I grew also.
I’ve had the best clients, truly the best. Some have been lifelong friends, some became new friends through this business. I’ve gained and lost friends just as I’ve gained and lost clients always at my own discretion and sometimes it was hard to not take some things to heart but I always chalked things up to “this is just business.”
I “take pictures”, but it’s always been so much more than that in my heart. I learned so much from fellow professionals whom I’m honored to have had the chance to work with, who took time to explain the mathematics and science behind equipment and settings and who pointed me in the right direction. I “take pictures” but I also get amazing back stories to the purpose and heart behind certain sessions and events. And in the last 15 years somewhere along the way I earned the right to be a professional in an industry where anyone can pick up a camera and claim that title themselves without the education or time put in.
From births, seniors, weddings, to end of life pet sessions, and elderly clients of which I never saw again, every session has been a story written on my heart.
I’ve been blessed.
I’ve always been completely honest and transparent with my clients, and a few know that life is taking me on a different path away from being so booked up.
This will be my last fall season, as some of you know. I’ll no longer be doing small sets in 2021, but will be focusing more on my high school senior clientele and the weddings I have booked. With that being said, booking anything will be few and far between because this business will be taking a back seat to a different career path. I’ll be doing far fewer weddings next year, and will only be accepting outdoor events if I choose to continue to do weddings which right now I have little desire to do. 2020 didn’t break the bank, it was actually a very, very busy year.
I have a wonderful opportunity ahead of me, and while I’m scaling back drastically in this business that I adore, I don’t think it’s something I’ll ever give up 💯.
I’m always a text, phone call, or private message away for advice, limited booking, or recommendations though ☺️
The last two weeks have been incredible with both familiar and new faces, and I cherish all of my people.
So bear with me while my business changes and please understand the reasoning behind it. I’ve missed a lot of time with my family through the years, to make memories for other people.
I have no regrets, because I wouldn’t be able to make the decisions now that I can be more selective in what I’ll offer.
