Ever worry about your kids cooperating or what to wear? You’re not alone. Here’s my favorite secret. The best photos happen when you let go of perfection and just show up as you are.

Lay out outfits the night before. Pack a snack for little ones (and maybe yourself). Most of all, remember: it’s about real smiles and real memories, not matching socks.

• Pick comfy outfits you all love (no stiff collars required!)
• Bring a favorite snack or toy for little ones
• Arrive a few minutes early to let everyone settle in
• Don’t stress about perfection—those in-between giggles are the magic
