Motherhood is such a beautiful, chaotic blur.

One minute they’re little enough to fit in your arms, and the next you’re wondering how they’re growing up so fast. If only we could slow time down, just a little.

After 20 years of photographing families, here’s something I’ve learned: the moments that feel the most chaotic don’t always look that way through my lens.

Sometimes the kids aren’t listening, nobody wants to cooperate, and Mom is wondering why she even thought family photos were a good idea.

But someday, you’ll look back at these photos and you won’t remember the chaos. You’ll just see your babies, exactly as they were in this little chapter of your lives. And you’ll wish you could go back, just for a moment.

So bring me the chaos. I promise there’s beauty in it. 🤍

Well, hello again! 👋🏼

Slowly emerging from the depths of my editing cave to remind everyone that yes, we’re still here, and yes, we’ve been photographing some pretty amazing families! 😂

Every year, mid-summer, social media take the backseat when life gets busy. And every year, I promise myself I’ll do better about sharing all the goodness happening behind the scenes. Spoiler alert: I have an entire summer’s worth of beautiful sessions I still haven’t shared!

But before I start digging through those, can we talk about OCTOBER on the Outer Banks?! 😍

Before this week’s wild nor’easter weather rolled in, we had the most incredible stretch of fall days. Warm sunshine, quieter beaches, and those dreamy cotton candy skies that just kept showing up night after night. The kind of evenings I wish I could bottle up and save forever.

And this sweet family got one of them! 🥹

One of my favorite things about this time of year is getting to spend a little more time photographing our local families. The summer crowds have thinned, the beaches feel like ours again, and there’s just something extra special about these slower, golden evenings.

Here’s hoping Mother Nature gives us a few more weeks of this magic before winter comes knocking.

And who says beach season has to end when sweater weather begins?! 🍂🌊
