Our winter fishing down here in the lower keys is always productive. We have a good offshore bite of wahoo, tuna with some Mahi still around. The patch reef fishing is on fire with muttons, lanes, yellowtail, and yellow jacks. We look for cobia on the wrecks. Sailfish are up in the shallow water looking for the bait, we catch them trolling, sight casting and flying the kites. If you’d like to catch some of these fish, shoot me a message and we’ll get you a trip set up!! 🎣 and gaffs

Big shoutout to Rum and the for donating product for the Lionfish Derby awards and buckets. Checkout the rum distillery on Greene street in Key West and be sure to take the family to the Key West aquarium next time you are in key west, they have an invasive species exhibit. If you haven’t signed up yet you still can at the Capt’s meeting this Friday a 6pm poolside at marina. We have a few spaces left on boats if you want to participate but need a boat DM me or stop by to sign up.

Happy 4th of July America!! Nothing more patriotic than getting out and killing some Lionfish, ok there are more patriotic things but nothing really more important than killing Lionfish to protect our local waters. There’s just 10 days now before the Key West Lionfish derby and we hope you can join us. If you don’t have a boat but want to go give me a shout and we’ll help you find one. I’ve been getting on the water when I get a free minute and shooting some for the Chefs at Yellowfin Bar and Kitchen, the on-site restaurant for they will be preparing the Lionfish from the derby for the awards banquet on Sunday the 16th at 6pm after the weigh-in. The chef’s wanted some practice with the Lionfish, I’ll try and get another dive in before the derby and get them some more.

If you want to participate in the Key West Lionfish Derby July 15-16 just go to www.finzdivecenter.com/lionfishderby or click the link in my bio and when you register we have a hot link that will take you to the FWC page to sign up for the Lionfish challenge. The Lionfish you kill in the derby can be used to qualify for the challenge and you can get them recorded right there at FINZ to get your coin in time for and those extra lobsters!!!

Great day supporting the National Marine Sanctuary while they test their new algae sweeper tool. They are trying to develop an effective means to clean substrate without leaving the particles in the water for areas where coral croppings from the nursery are going to be planted.
