Silverbridge & Co.

Silverbridge & Co. Specializing in wedding and family portraits across the Blue Ridge Mountains. Locally owned and created by Erica Harrison.

I stumbled into photography by accident and then promptly fell in love with it. Discovering the possibilities in telling stories visually sparked my creativity and has become a true passion of mine. When I come out from behind the camera, you’ll find me taking art classes going to car shows or a children’s museum with my son. Being the only girl in our home of two guys, three dogs, a cat and two g

oats, keeps me appreciating the organization of my calendar and looking for that sign that says, “Excuse the mess, the kids are making happy memories.” In my down time I love to read, though my family is starting to question the safety of the unread book pile as it appears to be reproducing quicker than tribbles. You will often find me out with my Husband around town on our Victory or hiding away in a Movie with a large bag of popcorn. We love of life around the Blue Ridge and enjoy documenting all our beautiful clients memories along the way.

I have this terrible habit of finishing a gallery, sending it off to my couple, falling in love with the photos... and then completely forgetting to actually SHARE them.

So, before I do that again, meet Lauren + Chris.

We spent their engagement session wandering around DC, starting at Union Station and ending near the Capitol, and these two made my job ridiculously easy. So much laughter, so much personality, and SO many favorites from this gallery.

And the best part? I don't have to wait very long to photograph them again.

Lauren + Chris are getting married September 6th right here in DC, and I cannot wait to celebrate these two all over again.

Consider this me trying to be better about actually sharing the pretty things I've been working on.

Well, Saturday had other plans.

I thought today was going to be a quiet day at home before a busy Sunday in Old Town.

And then a brand new baby decided otherwise.

So there will still be some Saturday things. Some family time. Probably some laundry. Definitely a little wandering around the garden.

But now, somewhere in the middle of all of that, I’m packing up my camera bag and heading out for a last-minute newborn session.

And honestly, I’m not mad about it.

There is something really special about getting the “baby is here!” message and suddenly rearranging the day to go document those first tiny days of someone’s life.

So apparently this weekend starts behind the camera a little earlier than I thought.

Saturday: new baby.
Sunday: Old Town.

I’m pretty excited about both.

Friday.

Which around here means we’re somewhere between wrapping up the week and getting ready for the weekend.

Batteries are going on chargers. Memory cards are getting checked. Camera bags are getting repacked even though I swear I put everything back exactly where it belonged last time.

Emails are getting answered. The weather forecast is being checked approximately 47 times even though I know it isn’t going to change just because I keep looking at it.

And somewhere in between all of that, there’s regular Friday life happening too.

Nothing groundbreaking to share today.

Just getting things ready, trying to finish what I can before the weekend, and feeling really thankful that I’m starting to enjoy sharing these little everyday pieces here again.

Happy Friday, friends.

A very glamorous day behind the scenes over here.

Coffee. Emails. Editing. More emails. Realizing I forgot about the coffee. Reheating the coffee.

Probably editing some more.

There are days when being a photographer means getting dressed up and photographing a beautiful wedding somewhere incredible.

And then there are days when it means sitting at my computer in questionable clothing for an embarrassing number of hours while convincing myself that I absolutely do not need another little treat from the kitchen.

Today is the second kind.

And truthfully, these are the days that make all of those other days possible.

So that’s what’s happening over here today.

Nothing particularly exciting. Just work, life, and a cup of coffee I’m determined to finish while it’s still hot for once.

This weekend is looking like a really good one.

Sunday I’ll be in Old Town Alexandria for the afternoon with a few mini sessions, and then finishing the evening with an engagement session at 6.

And I’m just excited.

Excited to get out of the house. Excited to see some familiar faces. Excited to walk entirely too many miles around Old Town. Excited to have my camera in my hand and spend the afternoon doing something I really love.

I used to share these little pieces of my everyday life here all the time, and somewhere along the way I stopped.

I miss it.

So here’s to sharing the ordinary stuff again. What’s happening this weekend, what I’m working on, where I’m headed, the chaos behind the scenes, and probably the occasional “look at this light!” moment that no one except another photographer would understand.

Anyway, that’s my Sunday.

Old Town, a bunch of walking, some really wonderful people, and my camera.

I’m ready for it.

There comes a point in every relationship where “you and me” quietly becomes “us.”

Maybe it’s bringing home a puppy.
Maybe it’s choosing a city to call home.
Maybe it’s dreaming about a future that hasn’t happened yet.

Whatever it is, your story starts growing beyond just the two of you. That’s what I love about this photograph.

Most people will notice the adorable dog.

I notice the way Jackie’s looking at Will. Like she’s already imagining every chapter that’s still to come.

And years from now, I have a feeling they’ll smile just as much remembering this season of life as they will their wedding day.

This year, I’m changing the way we celebrate Christmas in Northern Virginia.

Instead of returning to the tree farm, I’m creating an entirely new Cozy Christmas Mini Series—one that feels warmer, more intimate, and more centered on the connection within your family.

The tree farm sessions have given us so many beautiful memories over the years, but I wanted to create something fresh. Something that feels less like visiting a location for a few holiday photographs and more like stepping into a little piece of Christmas together.

I want these sessions to hold the things that make this season feel magical: your children tucked in close, tiny hands wrapped around yours, quiet snuggles, real laughter, and the joy of simply having your family together.

The setup is being thoughtfully designed to feel festive without overwhelming your photographs. Rather than following a trend or building something overly themed, the goal is a warm, timeless setting that allows your family—and your connection—to remain the heart of every image.

These photographs will be beautiful enough for your holiday cards, but meaningful enough to frame and enjoy long after the decorations have been packed away.
