I Claim Her.
The one who chose the path less traveled, so she could meet herself.

The one who trusted Faith more than Fear.

The one who remembered who she was before the world told her who to be.

The one who refused to stay small so that others could remain comfortable.

The woman who became the one she needed.

The one who stopped biting her tongue, and started speaking her truth.

The one who healed, and alchemized her scars into strengths.

The one who chose Joy.

I celebrate her today, and every day here forward, for the rest of my life.

Beyond grateful to Karrie Ann at Living Shasta Photography by KA for capturing my spirit in the spring lupine at Mt. Shasta. The minute I discovered her Insta feed last year, I knew I had to book this shoot. What a gift it was to work with her! Beyond her obvious artistry behind the lens, she has a heart of gold. “Ascension” 🙌 Some moments will always conjure memories that last a lifetime. The Super Flower Blood Moon Eclipse that occurred the night of May 26, 2021 was a rare combination of three lunar events that coincided at the same time… but it was also something more.

As I captured the phenomenon that night, I had no idea the significance it would later hold.

Shortly after I first posted this photo five years ago, I received a message from a woman whose daughter had passed away that night during the eclipse. For her, and for me, this photo became a heavenly symbol of a spirit’s transition to the next life.

Looking at the image today, I still get chills ✨✨

I’m just back from magical Mount Shasta where I had the privilege of shooting Return to Nurture Womens Retreat with Return to the Feminine Collective 💖📸

It’s hard to describe what it means to me to be a part of this tribe of conscious women, where I get to use my photography gifts in service to something greater… a healing space that uplifts and transforms those who are called to it.

I am continually humbled and inspired to witness the stories of women who have overcome great challenges in their lives, and are choosing to thrive.

This beauty is Tammy. We have a history that spans 30 years, and many different seasons of our lives. Her health challenges have been great, yet despite those hard struggles, she has maintained a hopeful spirit.

At one point, she weighed nearly 350 pounds. Today, 215 pounds lighter, she shared at retreat that she still saw her body through an old lens of contempt. She said, “I thought once I lost all that weight, I would miraculously like myself again, but I don’t.”

How many of us struggle with loving ourselves? How many of us tell ourselves we aren’t worthy?

But Tammy‘s willingness to bravely step in front of my lens and be seen, was a step toward shifting that negative story she was telling herself. During her session, I held the intention that she meet the version of herself she had longed to embrace—-and look at her!!!

One photo session can’t erase an old story, but it can be the portal to opening a new chapter that lights a spark of grace, resilience, and appreciation for who we are, and what we have been through.
