Illinois Central “Deathstar” 1038 maneuvers train on M337 through Chicago at high noon on Juneteenth. This was my last Illinois Central catch as a Chicago resident, which I had grown accustomed to seeing on an almost daily basis. Unfortunately, most, if not all, of these locomotives are stored with an uncertain future.

I couldn’t think of a better song to describe my experience at the America 250 Locomotive Celebration. A once in a lifetime gathering of patriotic locomotives from across the country gathered at the N.C. Transportation Museum. I feel very fortunate to have witnessed this event in person.
