Our paths just barely overlapped in college, so getting the chance to catch up all these years later makes sessions like this even sweeter. A hot summer evening at the river, splashing around with these sweet kiddos, catching up on life, and capturing all the fun in between, pretty hard to call that work.

So glad our paths crossed again, and even more grateful I got to capture this season for their beautiful family.

Sessions like this are such a reminder of why I still love doing this. An evening filled with so much genuine love, laughter, and joy… the kind that makes my job feel pretty darn easy.

Some families just hold an extra special place in my heart. ❤ This amazing mama used to help me with newborn sessions, and I miss those days — and her! — more than she probably knows. Some neighbors just become part of your story. ❤️

These guys have gone from “the neighbors” to bonus family... and these boys are way more like brothers to my girls than neighbors at this point. So naturally, they had to insert themselves into this early morning family session.

So thankful for the kind of people who show up, love your kids like their own, make life more fun, and somehow just become part of the family along the way.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for being our bonus family. And thank you for being the kind of neighbors we never knew we needed.

First time photographing this family, and I walked away wondering… how in the world do they make it look so easy?

The ease with which they’ve blended their families, the kids and their own little language with each other, the genuine love and care between all of them, it was just so evident.

And maybe what struck me most was that this new chapter doesn’t seem to come at the expense of the chapters that came before it. There’s room for the people they’ve loved and lost, for those who couldn’t be there, and especially for the husband and dad who will always be part of their story. They’ve found a way to move forward together with so much love and respect for everything - and everyone - that helped make them who they are.

The laughs were easy, the connection was real, and you could just feel how much they genuinely enjoy and care for one another.

Whatever their secret is, they’ve got something pretty special. 🤍
