A historic first for Victory Prep Athletics!

Last night, Victory Prep played its first-ever school athletics game with its inaugural volleyball team taking the court.

They came out strong with a win in the first set and stayed competitive through the second and third. While they didn’t take the overall win, it was a fantastic first showing and such an exciting start to Victory Prep’s inaugural athletics season.

And can we talk about that cheering section?! Possibly the BEST I’ve ever seen. Peep those guys hyping up our volleyball players! 🏐💙

Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, families, and school community on an amazing accomplishment!

📸 DnT Photography is excited to celebrate alongside you this season with complimentary images from the games we attend.

One day, the little expressions you know by heart will change.

The way they tilt their head.
The way their eyes light up when they are curious.
The way they hold their hands when they are feeling a little shy.
The way they look at you right now.

Meet Berkleigh, one of the children we're celebrating at this year’s SimplyMe art show.

Simply Me was created to help raise awareness about the importance of building healthy self-esteem in children; reminding them that who they are right now is worthy of being seen, celebrated, and valued.

But there is another side to that message that matters just as much.

As parents, we can become so caught up in the pace of life that we forget to fully take in the moments unfolding right in front of us, and before we realize it, another season of childhood has already passed.

The little quirks.
The missing teeth.
The favorite toys.
The shy smiles.
The giant, but tiny laughs.

They pass by in an instant, or dare I say "flash."

This beauty came in… I knew it would be beautiful… but, I had no idea just HOW beautiful. 🥰

Bringing back something that’s been lost in so many homes…

Displaying the most important people (and pets) in your life as the focal point of your home.

Because the people who make your house a home deserve more than living on a phone. They deserve to be seen, celebrated, and remembered every single day.

Sidebar… When heirloom artwork arrives from across the ocean, you quickly learn not to open those boxes without the proper tool. Ask me how I know. 🤣

Confession… this is not something I normally do. 😅

While we were on vacation, I was approached by some very determined “wedding coordinators” who insisted they needed me to photograph a wedding.

I politely explained that I didn’t even have my professional cameras with me… and then they mentioned there were THREE couples getting married.

Three.

At that point, my hesitation level was pretty high. 😂

But these coordinators were so creatively persistent… and cute… that I finally agreed to give it a try.

The venue? A beautiful lakeside setting.

The dress code? Let’s just say the guests had just finished fishing… and were gathering for an incredible fish fry. Formal attire was clearly optional. 🎣🐟 I guess you could say I got hooked into the whole thing… hook, line, and sinker! 🎣

And the happy couples?
💍 Bunny & August💍 Unny & Mr Monkey💍 Giraffey & Deen

Three very excited stuffed-animal couples ready to say “I do” who happened to belong to Ziva and two of my gbabies, Lexie and Lacie!

No professional gear. No lighting. No timeline. Just imagination, laughter, and a reminder that sometimes the sweetest moments happen when you least expect them.

As a photographer, I’m honored to spend my days documenting life’s BEST moments for so many people. This “wedding” may not be featured in any “destination weddings” magazine, but I have a feeling the memories created from the day will definitely last forever… ❤️

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I find myself thinking about the images that have shaped the way we remember our nation.

The quiet portraits of Civil War soldiers.
The flag raised at Iwo Jima.
Brave men and women who served, sacrificed, and in far too many cases, gave their lives so others could live free.
Neil Armstrong placing The United States flag on the moon.
Firefighters raising a flag from the ashes of September 11th.
Veterans, service members, first responders, leaders, pioneers, and everyday Americans whose courage became part of our national memory.

Today, I am deeply thankful for those who have served this country, for those who gave their lives in that service, and for the families who carried the cost of that sacrifice.

I’m thankful for freedom.

Most of all, I’m thankful for the privilege of living in a nation where we can gather, speak, create, remember, and worship Jesus openly; a freedom we should never take lightly or take for granted.

And as a photographer, I can’t help but notice one quiet constant woven through so many of the images that help us remember these moments:

A photographer was there.

Not as the hero of the story, but the photographer played such an important role.

Someone lifted a camera and preserved the courage, sacrifice, faith, grief, celebration, and resilience of our nation. Someone helped ensure that future generations could look back and remember not only what happened, but who was there, what was given, and why it mattered.

So, this Independence Day, I’m grateful for the freedom we celebrate, the sacrifices that made it possible, and the images that help us remember.

May we never forget that history is made by people who show up, serve, lead, sacrifice, and love their country well; and that God was gracious enough to design the role of the photographer who photographed those moments and who's images help us remembered vividly through them today.

They’re not babies anymore, but not quite big either. And before you know it, this version of them becomes a memory.
