I've decided to dip into fine art photography after my recent visit to

Here's the first try before and after images. The sky was kind of dull and uninteresting so I decided to do a skyswap for more drama.

My access gets me to the sidelines of our HS Football games.. although I can only take sports photos a few snaps at a time - when the steps out of the stands and prepare for their halftime performance.. still a good way to practice something new..

These are taken with a 12-year old DSLR.. just trying to see if I can catch up with the action using outdated tech..

You don't need the latest gear to start taking sports photos.

While modern mirrorless cameras with AI autofocus make it easier, an old DSLR from more than a decade ago with a solid lens can still deliver amazing results.

At the end of the day, photography is about timing, light, positioning, and knowing your gear—not having the most expensive setup.

Stop waiting for the "perfect" setup. Master the tools you have, hone your skills, go out there and take pictures. 📸

They put in the work on the field—we just make sure they look like legends.

When our kids are out there putting in dozens of hours a week—marching in the Texas heat, hitting precise drill spots, and bringing a show like CONSUMED: The Tragedy of Carmen to life—a standard snapshot just doesn't do them justice. They deserve the full-production treatment, or at least something like it.

I have volunteered my time for our HS Marching Band where my son plays the Sax.

We try to take as much pictures as we can and capture everyone, either in a group or individually but you know it gets harder with a big band like ours.

And then there are those persons of the week. Special call-outs to our band members of the week, pictures taken on the field after halftime show (that's why you see some of them sweats).

Not a full production but stadium lit sideline photo and a simple Canva template I prepared ahead of time, replacing some elements with the members' pictures and other layers.

How did I do here?
