Had a chance this evening to help a fellow tracker locate their bloodhound. Walter blew through their underground fence this morning chasing deer and didn't return home. We found him about 900 yards from the house but in the opposite direction he was headed when they last saw him.
This was a pretty special locate for me. Matt and his other hound Mable helped locate my wife's buck 2 years ago before I had the drone, so it was great to return the favor.
There's room for both drones and dogs and both have their place in recoveries.
If you need a tracking dog, give Matt w. a call.

Kicked off the season a little early and went 2 for 2 on recoveries during the opening week of the Kentucky season.

Located my own liver shot doe, then helped Dale Samples locate his buck.

The conditions were about as difficult as they get for a drone operator. 90+ degrees with a full canopy of hardwoods and cedars but I was still able to locate the heat signature for both deer. Dale's buck was still alive at about 11pm so we decided to back out and check on him in the morning. Met at first light and recovered my doe then headed to the top of the field to search again with the drone. I located him pretty quickly and was confident the buck had died over night. It hadn't been long as he was still very warm and flexible, but waiting and not busting into the timber looking likely resulted in recovering a deer that otherwise may not have been.

It was a great way to start off the 2026 season. If you need help recovering a deer in the NW Missouri area, I'd love to talk to you. Give me a call at 816-393-0030.

Added another tool to the toolbox for the upcoming season. There are still plenty of places with no cell service. The Starlink mini will solve that problem. I'll have clear maps on the controller and won't miss that next calll!

Pretty cool shot from tonight. Show the length deer will go to to get fresh water.

January 12th find. Imagine how late the doe had to have been bred to have a fawn still with spots mid January!

Some crazy late season rut activity this evening. Several good bucks chasing does and squaring off with each other. Was surprised to see that much activity this late! Guess not all does have been bred yet! Still have a few days to seal the deal
