Last week I shot the coolest editorial!! Possibly my favorite editorial, like ever. Inspired by Matisse and French fauvism, I'd been dreaming about this shoot since last September during a very scary medical emergency. After reading about Matisse's own health struggles during WWII occupied France and his ability to remain creative against all odds, I persevered through my own situation with the idea I would one day create an editorial with him in mind.
With the help of Dana (as always, duh), Ann (Thorne Floral), and several other fabulous vendors we executed a shoot that truly felt like a painting come to life. Not to mention all the hours I labored over the actual painting that would become our shoot's backdrop. I also hand crafted (and meticulously saddled stitched ._.) our tablescape's paper vases, for that extra painterly touch. Everyone seemed to really up their creativity, as well. Dana, in addition to coordinating/designing the shoot also designed our entire stationery suite, selected the incredible venue, and created an adorable seating chart. Ann's work oozes artistry on the daily, but my favorite detail of her contribution was that she used mesh from a fruit bag to create a bird cage on one of the headpieces. Even the Boba cart got into it by making a custom sign that utilized designs inspired by Matisse's papercut era.
I also cannot forget to mention Anne & Brayden, a past couple of mine, who totally brought the shoot to life with their modeling talents. They were so much fun to work with, as always β€β€β€
