A Maasai woman and student near the Engaruka area in Tanzania. The Tanzanian government struggles to keep Maasai children in school because it goes against their livelihood. They also struggle to fund schools that are within walking distance for the children. Some compromises have been made to have children board at school. An NGO called Empowered Girls Africa has been working with the Maasai to build their own schools and to reconcile their nomadic life with modern education, finding ways for coexistence

Pastor Alice. I’ve now known her for over a decade. She’s a force for good. For change. She works for God in everything she does. She gets her hands dirty every day and helps the most vulnerable of souls in the KC urban core turn their destiny around. She lives and works off 31st street near Troost. She founded True Light Church which is now also a women’s shelter and family resource center. She is currently writing a book about how it all came to fruition. I called her one day after hours because I needed her help to with someone about to be houseless and I could hear old school gospel playing in the background at her home. It gave me a visual that I wanted to create from it. These images are those to celebrate her. She’s always championed others. I feel it’s her time now. I know I am not alone in saying I love her.
