A little behind the scenes action from last weekend's mini sessions. I love these kiddos and their beautiful souls so much! Last night while editing I kept tearing up over the way they gaze so honestly into the camera. Kids have my heart, you guys.

Today I'm posting from Children's Mercy where we're waiting for my oldest to get his first ever cast, right at the beginning of summer, as luck would have it. 🤕😭

We spend so much of our time trying protect our little ones from hurt, fear, and all bad things, but life has a way of happening. After the doctor told us he'd spend two more weeks in a cast, he asked me for a hug. I hugged him as he sniffed back tears, then offered to do whatever he wanted to make him feel better. He looked at me and said, "All I want is a hug." ❤️

So take some time to hug your babies today, mamas - even if it's just a quick one. Sometimes that simple gesture makes a world of difference!

Y'all, I need your help!

It's super easy to find adorable brands, boutiques, and style makers for babies and toddlers - cuteness overload! - but I'm looking for something similar for big kids (ages 3-11, aka the kids I photograph). I was starting to feel a little discouraged, but then remembered that you all are smart, stylish mamas who have amazing taste!

Another year, another Mother's Day, another chance to honor my two favorite women and mothers: my own excellent mother and my amazing sister. Together they prove to me time and time again that hard work pays off, that the sacrifices of motherhood are worth it 💯, and that friendship is the most important thing in life. They make me laugh harder and more often than anyone else. This is one time I can hashtag, with no sense of irony whatsoever, .

Check out this doorway! 😍 I'm hanging out in Charleston this week with my mom and sister and I am in LOVE with this beautiful city! So this weekend's trip was...an adventure. But one teething baby, one sick kiddo, and a night of sleeping on the floor later I can say it was 100% worth it.

Watching them play amongst the huge rocks and run down the trails with their cousins was worth every inconvenience. Plus, look at all that pretty!

I know, I know... ...but listen: the kids and what feels like half of our belongings are loaded up and we are road tripping to spend the weekend hiking with my family. As excited as I am to see them all, I am dreading sleeping in a hotel with the baby. Or, you know, NOT sleeping. Whatever. 😐

But on the other hand - hiking with my family! Friyay! Road trip! I'll see you on Monday, KC!

I am still mildly obsessed with the stars made for our Star Light, Star Bright shoot. We made 15 of them and I kept every. single. one. ✨ Now its time to start building the set for our Summer 1 mini sessions and as I look around our basement I'm starting to wonder if I'm a fledgling hoarder. I can't get rid of any of my props! Clouds ✔️ Gigantic wire moon ✔️ Copper stars ✔️ 6-foot tall Scandi-inspired trees ✔️ (I've got five of the trees...)
Guys, I think its safe to say I have a problem. But I'm so pumped to show you the new set (supply buying starts now!) and I'm so in love with it that I just might keep it. I might use it for something in the future, right?? 😉
