With the pandemic on the wane (again/for now), it was time to get out to start photographing events again. These photos were from the final night of the Miss Gay Missouri America 2022 pageant held on March 26, 2022. Congratulations to the newly-crowned Tajma Stetson!

I'm not back to regular shooting, yet (thanks to the Delta variant and low vaccination rates). However, when a longtime friend is getting married and asks you to be his wedding photographer, you dust off the camera gear and get to work.

Happy 2021 everyone! I wish everyone a healthy and happy new year! I have been on hiatus from shooting due to the pandemic. It is my hope, though, that by mid-year the pandemic will finally be on the wane. Until we are approaching that point, though, I will not be scheduling any shoots (either in-studio or on-location).

In the meantime, please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe - wear masks, socially distance, and make sure to wash your hands often. The sooner we can kick COVID-19 into the dustbin of history, the sooner that life for all of us can get back to normal!

This month, the City of Fountains Sisters are celebrating their elevation to a fully professed house of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. As part of that event, I was commissioned to take the formal photos of the members.

The CoFS describe themselves as "a modern order of 21st century nuns. Since our acceptance as an Aspirant House, we have devoted ourselves to: community service, promoting human rights, and respect for both diversity and spiritual enlightenment. We believe all people have the right to express their unique joy and beauty. When necessary, we use humor, wit, and wisdom to expose the forces of bigotry and guilt that chain the human spirit." My inspiration for these photos was taken from late renaissance portraiture, with Andy Chambers and Alan Dunham collaborating with me in the styling of the scene.

My latest bit of published photography work. Andy Chambers and I have done a number of collaborations in recent years where he has been the makeup genius behind the scenes. An annual event I'm happy to support and give visibility to is the Kansas City Zombie Walk for Hunger (zombiewalkkc.org), which collects food and raises funds for food banks and other charities focused on feeding the hungry. Here's the final set of photos from this year's walk.

An annual event I'm happy to support and give visibility to is the Kansas City Zombie Walk for Hunger (zombiewalkkc.org), which collects food and raises funds for food banks and other charities focused on feeding the hungry.

For the first set of photos for this year's walk, I wanted them to have a lo-fi look echoing early film cameras, with some additional manipulation that (at least to me) adds a constrained, almost claustrophobic tone to the images to heighten the sense of horror. Finding oneself in the midst of a zombie horde should be scary, and I wanted to convey that tone with this set.
