Documenting experiences is a matter of perspective. The story each image tells is completely dependent on my particular perspective. Where I am in the unfolding of those moments will serve to remind the people there of what took place.
It’s also why I choose to shoot with four cameras. With the swipe of my hand I can reach to grab for a different perspective. While the side of me that loves street photography and photojournalism enjoys the wide perspective and filling the frame with context, there’s this other side of me that loves to focus in close.
Kiefer & Brenna’s hands reach across the table and scoop tea into the pot. She pours the tea and they drink it together as first act as a married couple. He places the ring on her finger. They pour the tea for their parents and serve it to them as an act of honor.
All the parts of these images come together to stitch together this visual narrative of it all. And it’s what I love to do still.
