”tornado outbreak” possible from Kansas City up to Wisconsin this afternoon

This is Kansas City‘s second chance this year at seeing tornadoes of EF2 strength and greater, especially as you get to northern Missouri near Chillicothe. The timing is not ideal at either in the metro, kids will likely still be in school. Kansas City got lucky last time and it all went up to Omaha, but I can’t stress enough how important it is to have your plans ready in case this goes south, literally.

Just know where you will be able to shelter, and have your phones charged, cars gassed, and multiple ways to get weather warnings and you will be totally fine. If in a mobile home Today, especially in northern Missouri northeast of KC, I would suggest knowing where you can get to a sturdy building by 2 PM and head to a friends house for the afternoon if needed. The red area is known as the “moderate risk” a level four out of five of severe weather, which includes areas just north of Kansas City going up to Wisconsin. I believe The last moderate risk for Saint Joseph and near KC was the day with with the 2019 Lawrence to Bonner Springs, Kansas EF4.

Everyone in Kansas,Oklahoma, and western Missouri. Please be very careful and weather aware this evening. If you know me, you know I don’t use to TO phrase often, but I think a historical tornado outbreak is on the table. Especially in Oklahoma and southern Kansas.

All my friends chasing today, take road options and traffic very very seriously. A mistake like the one I made in northern Missouri last Saturday would probably cost you your life on a day like today. Have multiple Ways to get warnings.

Today will be a life altering event for many residents, meteorologists, chasers, and first responders. Enjoy these few hours of beautiful weather. Count your blessings and stay safe!
