Your wedding day can be so much more than one long photoshoot.

Some of my favorite images happen when we make space in the timeline for you to actually *experience* your day. To do the things that feel like you, bring you joy, and tell a piece of your story.

For these two, that meant stopping for ice cream at a spot that already held so many memories from dates throughout their relationship.

So yes, take the photos. But also get the ice cream. Visit the place you fell in love. Take the long way to the reception. Build a wedding day filled with little moments that are sentimental to your story.

I want you to look back at your photos and feel something.

Engagement sessions are about so much more than pretty photos!

They’re a chance to slow down in the middle of wedding planning and simply be together. To hold hands, laugh a little too hard, wander through a field, and soak in this sweet season before you become husband and wife.

But they’re also such an important part of your photography experience.

This is where we get to know each other before the wedding day. You get comfortable in front of my camera, learn that you don’t have to know how to pose, and discover that some of the most beautiful images happen when you’re simply focused on each other.

By the time your wedding day arrives, my camera doesn’t feel quite so unfamiliar, and neither do I.

My goal is for your engagement session to feel less like a photoshoot and more like a date night that just happens to leave you with photographs of this season you’ll get to keep forever.

Because your wedding photography experience begins long before the wedding day does.

Still not over yesterday. 🤍

The sweetest celebration tucked into the woods at Bay Pointe Woods in Shelbyville, Michigan. It was a day filled with so much joy, intention, and the kind of moments you wish you could bottle up forever.

Days like this are exactly why I love what I do. The quiet moments, the big celebrations, and all of the beautiful in-between, preserved so they can be felt again and again.

After 16 amazing months, I’m closing the doors of Selah Studios.

What began as a dream quickly became a place where so many beautiful moments were celebrated.

From baby showers and bridal showers to intimate wedding ceremonies, countless photography sessions, and the many photographers who made this space their creative home, this studio was filled with life, joy, and purpose.

As I reflect on this journey, I can honestly say I don’t regret trying. Not for a second.

Building Selah taught me so much about business, faith, risk, and trusting myself. While this chapter didn’t unfold the way I originally envisioned, I’m proud that I took the leap and gave this dream a chance. Some dreams are meant for a lifetime, and some are meant for a season.

And what a beautiful season this was.

For now, it’s time to close this chapter and focus on where life + business is leading next. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to never say never. I still love this dream, and maybe one day, in a different season, it’ll look different and find its way back.

To every person who rented the studio, celebrated a milestone here, captured memories within these walls, or simply cheered me on from afar, thank you.

Here’s to the memories made, the lessons learned, and the next chapter ahead. ✨
