My name is Mandi Coulombe and I am a natural light photographer. I photograph: newborns, children, seniors, engagements, couples, maternity and families! I shoot mostly outdoors because Hawaii has endless beauty on the daily. {ANNOUNCEMENT} 

Aloha to all of my incredible clients. It’s finally time I share with you the news I have been reluctant to share. It is VERY bittersweet, but my family and I are moving off Island to North Carolina to be closer to family. We will miss Kona with every fiber of our being, but the Lord has provided us a beautiful home on an apple farm in which escrow closed today! Kona, is all our kids know. They grew up here, made friends here, and we will miss our family and friends here greatly.   However hard this may be, we are looking forward to new adventures and being closer to family we have dearly missed. We are SO excited!!

I cannot thank you all enough for trusting me to do your family photos over the many years we have been here. I have met some of the most incredible people. I can truly say, I have THE BEST clients ever. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for allowing me the honor to capture your memories.   I do plan to continue, but it will take some time for me to “start over.” Please continue to follow and keep up with us! I don’t post much of my family, but here we are saying Mahalo nui loa to each and every one of you! May this year bring about a multitude of blessings upon you and your families. I will be back! We plan to visit often so keep in touch and if you’re in the NC area, let me know!

Happy Al🌺ha Friday!
What are you up to this weekend? Last week I had the opportunity to photograph this incredible family. I just love when clients can let go and relax. Oh! And the sunset was absolutely amazing!! Not to mention, we saw turtles and whales during their session! We couldn’t have asked for a better evening. How sweet are they?!

How is it that this is my job? I was on the beach the other night photographing another amazing family. A visitor from California approached me and asked if this is what I did for a living. I told him yes it was and he proceeded to tell me how incredibly lucky I was to be doing what I do. I couldn’t agree with him more. I’m so humbled to work with such amazing clients like these guys here. How sweet are they?

I am finally back from a very long hiatus. Well, a month or so. How has everyone been? Ready for the new year? I know I am!!

For Christmas we visited my in-laws in North Carolina. I can’t even begin to tell you how cold it was lol I’m sure some of you can empathize greatly! I pretty much froze, but golly was it beautiful. As soon as we got back, we flew over to Oahu with our hanai family to go see Hamilton! Oh my goodness how amazing!! Have any of you seen it? What were your thoughts if you have?!

I have to admit to you I’ve been keeping a secret for a little while now. I will be sharing it soon, but it does have to do with why I’ve been a little MIA on social media. Stay tuned! Until then, enjoy this sweet family how incredibly cute are they?!

Ohhhh maternity sessions are so much fun!

I read this on a new mom’s travel website and thought it was the cutest thing: “our new favorite carry-on.” How cute is that?! Perfect for a babymoon!
These two (3) are the absolute sweetest!! What an incredible joy it was to photograph these two and their little to come!

Happy ALOHA Friday!! As promised. The Mauna Loa lava flow. Nothing like it. One of the most surreal experiences in my lifetime. When my husband and I hiked in to see the lava going into the ocean from the Kīlauea eruption for our Anniversary in 2018, we thought for sure that was going to be a once in a lifetime for us. We never imagined Mauna Loa (the largest volcano in the world) would shine this soon! Just WOW! God is so amazing and to share this special moment with our kids this time was priceless. To live on an island where two volcanos are active at the same time and one of the others with snow on top is just mind blowingly cool. Enjoy some snapshots I took the other night.

Happy Aloha Friday!
What are your plans for the weekend? I know for us, our son is turning 10 on Monday, so we will be celebrating him! Kids are just so fun. One thing I do every year is take their picture. They grow up so fast and it’s fun to look back on how they’ve changed. That’s what I love so much about being a photographer. I can help a family capture moments like these that will last a lifetime. I hope my clients know and see how special these moments truly are. ✨ This family stole my heart. She’s a nurse and he’s a firefighter… there’s more to their story that showed such deep bravery, strength and love that was such an inspiration to me.

As a photographer it is so important to me that my family’s have FUN! That they feel relaxed and take in the moments. I just love kids!! I will do my best to be their friend for the evening because if they’re happy, everyone is happy! I can’t get over these two kiddos! We had so much fun and they really nailed it! 🤙🏼

Aloha!
So, yes. It’s been a while lol Because I do this part time, I’m not always posting everyday. To be honest, it all seems so daunting the idea of trying to keep up with everyone else. I’m all about going at my own pace and not trying to beat the algorithm. Lord knows, I can’t 😂 So, I post when I want to. 👏🏼🤪

How many are like me?!
It’s the best job ever to be my own boss and call my own hours. I can fully focus on each client and take my time with them. I just love it! Life is beautiful and worth documenting. I love my job as a family photographer! Speaking of, this extended family session was an absolute joy!! Don’t be afraid to get in the water a bit. It’s worth it, trust me.

It’s always an honor to photograph your family, and I am dedicated to showing your love and beauty in photos that will become family heirlooms. I take my job seriously and work hard to make sure everything is just right. I’m not perfect, by any means! However, I will always strive to make each session special. Treasure the moments. I once had a client tell me that the photo session they did with me was the highlight of their whole trip. It was memorable because their family felt close during that window of 45min. That just made me melt into mush. I’m so humbled and honored I get to do this. Mahalo nui for choosing me as your photographer.

Happy Al🌺ha Thursday!
How is everyone’s day going? I’m not gonna lie. It’s been a bit busy around here. Did you know that Photography is only a part-time job for me? My main job is being a stay at home mom for my two amazing kiddos and a wife to my incredible husband. I also help my husband run our Medicare business as well as our Handyman business. I’ve always had a major love for Photography so when my husband encouraged me to make it a business, I said, “why not!” so here I am, lol I just love being able to create special memories between families, and loved ones. It is an absolute joy and honor. Speaking of amazing families, I had the honor of photographing this family of 25 incredible people! I can’t even begin to express how fun this session was. We had nothing but full sunshine and the kids enjoyed every minute of it.

I am a huge sucker for extended families. I get to hang out with the best people. Making memories is what I strive to do, but it’s important to me to make it memorable. This family. So kind. So fun. So care free. I absolutely loved witnessing their love for one another. An example to all.

If you’re ever in doubt about doing an extended family session… just do it. 🤗 If your family is like mine, it’s not often we have the whole family together. Like, our whole family. So, when we do we be sure to capture the moment. The investment is with it. Trust me ♥️ This extended family is doing it right and I’m so happy I got to be there to help them make it happen!

Oh the glow! ✨
I have been so blessed being this sweet little one’s hanai Auntie! Her Mama and I have known each other since the 6th grade. I have watched her grow and her mama told me that when people would ask her why she was going to Hawaii she replied, “to go see Auntie Mandi, of course!” Nothing blessed my soul more!! 🥹😭♥️I just love this family to pieces.

There are moments durning a session that just take my breath away. Since I have known this family for so many years, every time I get to spend time with them I gush over their love for each other. It’s so raw and pure. The sweet kisses. Knowing them and doing life with them from afar is so hard, but we mange still to keep in touch almost on a daily basis. Through the thick and thin. The easy and the hard in life. Lord knows this Auntie will always be a part of this sweet girl’s life. It’s an honor and I long for the day they come visit again!

For their anniversary, he surprised her with a new ring set. It wasn’t just a new ring set, but one that had such deep meaning behind it that was so special to just them. It’s one of those, IYKYK. He contacted me months in advance to plan this special surprise and it really paid off because she was genuinely surprised. I just love you guys so much!! Thanks for adopting me into your family!!

Cherish the family moments because they go by too fast. From the huge milestones to the daily rituals, those memories are all we have.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much this family blessed my soul. They have such a gift in joyfulness and kindness. It was truly an honor to do their family photos while on vacation in Hawai’i.

During a family photo shoot with me, a group hug will be happening. It’s a great way to showcase the genuineness of the whole family! I love when my clients ask for certain photos that have special meaning to their family. This couple was celebrating 25 years of marriage and I was just so so happy to witness their love! I hope they come back and see me again, because just their joy and encouragement is so contagious. Adopt me please, Kennedy family! Lol the best!!

I absolutely love when my clients wear vibrant colors. The contrast is just stunning! This family was the sweetest, most kind in every way and may have been a little camera shy, but I have a way of breaking you out of your shell.

Another thing, I will never say “no” to my families wanting to bring their own props or leis! I actually encourage it! If there is something special you have and want to bring to a session, I am all for it because it’s special to you and it adds character and genuineness to your session. Watching the kids put leis on their parents was a sweet and special moment. I’m so encouraged by their love and respect for one another.

During every session I do I set some time aside for just the parents. I’ll photograph the family, the kids together, kid’s individually, get some candids, but also give the parents a little alone time. I believe that it’s so important to have those moments captured. Something I tell my clients: it’s not just a photo shoot, it’s an experience. 💖What an honor it was to spend time with this amazing family. And those dresses! 😍

Oh goodness.
It’s been a while. How is everyone? I have been so busy with my amazing families, editing and the three businesses my husband and I own 😅 oh! And I’m a Substitute TA for my kids’ school. Can you say hustle? The cost of living in paradise lol that’s what I love so much about doing photography. It’s my creative outlet while still allowing me to be a stay at home mom, which is my most important job! I’m finally getting caught up with posting my amazing families and this family…speaking of hustle! We had 15min to do this shoot! Long story, but they nailed it!! AND we became photographer friends! This lady is a super talented photographer herself!

They don’t come much cuter than this. I adored my time with this family! We even had an incident as I was taking their last picture! Someone on the beach next to us had dislocated their shoulder and needed help. This family jumped right in to help! I know I’ve said this already, but I am so blessed by the families I get to photograph.I have the best clients ever.
