Fresh snow mixed in with some fall colors is hard to beat ❄️

We were able to go visit during peak colors in mid October and got lucky to see the first storm roll through as well. In the areas surrounding Mammoth Lakes there are lots of accessible hikes and viewpoints including those along June Lake Loop. You can easily drive 45 minutes along CA395 and go from snowy peaks to geothermal pools so this region is great for all kinds of adventures. There are also a mixture of lodging options ranging from camping and glamping to hotels and home rentals. We suggest staying in Mammoth Lakes for more amenities and taking day trips over to the surrounding lakes including Convict, June, and Silver Lake pictured here!

Fall in upstate NY 🍂

If you happen to be in NYC during the fall and want to really take in the fall colors it’s worth taking a trip upstate. Located within a few hours of the city you can easily plan a day trip or add onto a NYC trip to take in some outdoor activities.

The Catskill mountains are one of the most popular ranges here but all along the outskirts of Albany and Hudson you can find several places worth visiting. There are also a handful of famous landmarks here including Kaaterskill Falls and Cascade Mountain which are often some of the most popular in the region. On average leaves here tend to peak in mid October to early November depending on the season so it’s best to plan around then which is generally shoulder season for NYC!
