Looking back through some files from last year, I came across these photos of an adorable Western Kingbird. The photos were taken at Milford Lake, Kansas, at sunset. Western Kingbirds are known as tyrant flycatchers with opportunistic feeding habits, commonly catching flying insects. I regard any bird that consumes flies and mosquitoes as a friend of mine. 💛🤎

These are some favorite photos that I've taken of Killdeer because of the evening clouds reflected in the water behind them. Killdeer are shorebirds that don't necessarily live by the shore. They are very fast runners. To protect their vulnerable ground nests and chicks, parents will loudly feign a broken wing, dragging themselves along the ground to lure predators, like foxes or humans, away from the nest. They are named after their piercing, high-pitched "kill-dee" call; they are incredibly loud, often vocalizing in flight and even after dark. 📷: Milford Lake, Kansas

I have to admit something. I have an addiction to sunsets, especially ones by the water. This photo was taken along the Emerald Coast at Pensacola Beach earlier this year. I'm counting the days until I return.

While the Portuguese man-of-war is a fascinating creature, it is not one that you'd want to make direct contact with.

Eagles are one of my favorite subjects to photograph. They are known for their incredible eyesight. They can spot a rabbit from up to 3 miles away. Their eyes can see 4 to 8 times farther than human vision. This one was photographed in January of this year at Fort Pickens , Gulf Islands National Seashore Florida.
