Travel Photography: Just to change things up a bit, I’m going to periodically share photos from our travels over the years. This one I’d call “The door at No. 55”, taken in December of 2014. It’s a Spanish Colonial doorway in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

My Lunar eclipse photos got off to a slow start due to clouds and then haze. However, I managed to get a few before my camera struggled to get enough light to even focus and take a photo.

I recently remarked that I hadn’t seen any Ospreys yet this summer. Today on my walk I spied one in a tree. Of course by the time I got my camera it was gone. Then much to my surprise, I saw it flying over the lake at a great distance with a fish. I did my best to quickly reset my camera but my shutter speed was a little too slow for a great shot. My editing program helped a bit, but still not the quality I wanted. Regardless I was very happy to see an Osprey back in the area!

As you start your week I thought I’d share this sunset photo I captured the other evening of a Great Blue Heron fishing in a pond and share a couple of facts about them that might help us improve our own outlook. Have a wonderful day!
•Night Vision: Due to a high count of rod photoreceptors in their eyes it allows them to hunt effectively in dim light or even at night.
•Good Omen: Seeing a heron is widely considered a positive and auspicious omen. Across many cultures and traditions, this majestic bird symbolizes patience, wisdom, self-reliance, and good fortune.
•Patience and Focus: The heron's ability to stand completely still before striking gracefully reminds you to slow down and wait for the right moment.
•Independence: Because they often hunt alone, herons encourage you to trust your own path and stand confidently in your truth.
•Adaptability: Their presence near water signifies emotional clarity, personal growth, and smooth transitions through change.

Yesterday marked the 150th anniversary of the first lighting of the lamp at the historic Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It has been a bright beacon of the night, guiding ships and their supplies along the west coast since August 20, 1873. The lighthouse is Oregon's tallest, but just one in a string of lighthouses strategically planned along the Pacific Coast to allow mariners to sail the rocky coastline after dark. We had the pleasure of visiting it last year on August 17th.
