🔴🔴🔴 Important Changes Regarding Social Media 🔴🔴🔴
Trigger Warning: Topic of CSAM and CP
This was never a post that I thought I would have to make as a photographer but going forward I will not be posting any photos/content of anyone under the age of 18 even with parental consent. This comes after an official court ruling that protected AI generated CP and CSAM under the 1st amendment.
The ruling says that generated images kept within the home are legally protected by our constitution and don’t depict “actual” children. However, these AI generators utilize images from the internet including social media to essentially recycle legitimate images into synthetic copies in a horrific twisted manor. This is one of the worst possible outcomes that could happen from posting a simple photo.
I have always been careful with posting photos of children but I fear the reach of AI has made it to where it is no longer possible for me to post any at all. I will be removing any and all photos of children from my social media and website to ensure I am being as safe as humanly possible.
If you are reading this post and have children, I would strongly encourage you to do the same. I understand the value of social media as a tool to share photos with friends and family but we are now opening ourselves up to unimaginable horror. I personally feel that the courts have made the most monstrous decision and decided to protect predators instead of our children.
Lastly, I do personally believe that there are legitimate use cases for AI. However, AI generated content is a million steps too far. We have allowed this technology to persist without virtually any legal barriers and it must stop. It has been used to create sexually explicit imagery of children and adults, destroy jobs in creative fields and even replicate copyrighted material which devalues intellectual property for everyone with little to no recourse. Even if you are mad about AI, you are not mad enough. If you want to help me in spreading the word and please share this post!
