One of my favorite things about milestone sessions is when families bring something that makes their little one... them.

Whether it's a favorite superhero costume, a beloved stuffed animal, a special outfit, or even a toy they can't go anywhere without, those little details tell their story. That's what these sessions are all about.

I swear she looks absolutely flawless every single time she's expecting. And getting to document another chapter for this sweet family as they prepared to welcome their newest little love was such an honor.

One of my favorite things about maternity sessions is capturing not only the anticipation of a new baby, but the excitement of the entire family. Big brother and big sister are already so loved, and it's so sweet watching them step into these new roles.

7 Years.

Seven years ago, I picked up a camera and started what was supposed to be a side hustle.

I had no idea that one small leap of faith would completely change the course of my life. Over the years, this little business grew from late nights after work, editing during my lunch break, and squeezing sessions into every free moment, into something that allowed me to leave my full-time job and pursue photography full-time. It still feels surreal to say that.

The greatest gift this business has given me isn't awards, recognition, or even the beautiful images I've created...it's time. Time to be home with my son. Time to witness the little moments that go by far too quickly. Time to build a life around my family instead of trying to fit my family around my work. There have been seasons where I questioned myself, seasons where I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure of what was next. But every step, every client, every referral, every family who trusted me with their memories helped make this dream possible.

To every couple who invited me into their wedding day, every mama who trusted me with her newborn, every family who came back year after year, every person who shared my name with a friend, THANK YOU! Black Gap Photography exists because of you.

As I sit here celebrating seven years, preparing to welcome another baby into our family, I can't help but feel incredibly grateful. Grateful for the risks I took. Grateful for the people I've met. Grateful that I get to do something I genuinely love while building a life I love too.

Here's to seven years of memories and hopefully many more to come. Thank you for being part of this journey.
