I love all the in-home newborn sessions! Being at your home capturing new moments in your life is so special! There is no better way to tell your story than by being where all the magic happens. It is also so nice when you have other kids. They really open up to be their fun goofy selves, because they are where they are comfortable. It is also so much more calming for mom and dad to not have to get everyone perfectly ready, gather into the car, and go somewhere to confine them to get pictures.

If you are worried about your house not being pretty or nice enough for an in-home session, I don’t need pretty and nice. I need real and lived in homes to better tell your story. All of these photos were taken indoors in the floor by me moving the kitchen table over to the side, opening the blinds at this window, and letting natural light come in. I don’t see a perfect home. I see a new mother that loves her baby girl. Two big brothers that adore their little sister, and a father doing his best to hold down the fort for his older boys while mom is navigating this new role of mom to three and also trying to still embrace being herself.

A little look behind my process in video clips…

- Inquire on my website is preferred, but I will accept text, comments, emails, and direct messages as well!

- If you aren’t sure about being ready to book yet, I’ll send over my pricing and services guide with more info about me, my style, package options, and FAQ’s.

- Once you know you are ready to book, I will create a client portal with your contract, invoice, and questionnaire for the session. A retainer will be required to reserve your spot and the contract will need to be signed at this point.

- I will send over a session planning guide specifically for the kind of session you book with info about posing, session prep, outfits, props, and more!

- Then time for the session where we will have fun, make memories, run, walk, etc. Any remaining balances will need to be paid before the session.

- Sneak peeks will be sent via text within a couple of days. Final galleries will be delivered through a gallery link with Unscripted Photographers. Regular sessions will be delivered within 1-2 weeks and weddings within 4-6 weeks.

- If you would be so kind to write a review on Google, I would appreciate that so much! Reviews are so helpful for photographers to use for credibility on their social media and website.

This is us 🤍

We actually went to a different beach spot one night. I had on a dress and the guys were dressed up, but it just felt off. I talked to Brian and we both agreed it didn’t feel like us. The next night, I put on comfy clothes, the guys put on their swim trunks, and Brian wore the hat that should have been put in the trash years ago. It felt so much more like us and we were able to be ourselves at the beach spot we made memories at.

For the ones that want to look back and feel what it felt like to be there when the time has long passed. My favorite location of all to take photos at… home. The kitchen you make dinner in, the bedrooms you tuck them into at night, the backyard you play in, the toys they will soon outgrow. These are memories worth preserving.

When one of your favorite kind of sessions turns into pure magic…

The horse, the dogs, the couple, the view, and more importantly the people. I could not have dreamed this up to be any better if I tried.

These two were visiting their family from out of state and booked with me while they were in town for their maternity announcement photos. Truly some of the sweetest people I have ever worked with and I have no doubt they will be incredible parents. This job continues to amaze me at the opportunities it brings and the people I get to meet.

Bringing your stories to life through timeless, heirloom photos like these are one of my favorites parts about photography.

You don’t need to be “photogenic” with photos like these. You just need to feel the connection between you and your family. Put yourself into the moment of just being together. Finding joy and creating memories in the most simple of moments. It’s about more than just the finished product of the pictures, but also the time you spent together doing it.

This session was COLD, but these kiddos were troopers. Luckily the acorns came in for the win and created small moments searching for them, throwing them, and sharing them. These are things you can’t plan for. You just go with what works. Sometimes slowing down and allowing the natural moments to happen, create the best memories.

P.S. - You can still get great photos even if you don’t feel comfortable completely sharing your kiddos face!

My own family on the feed today. We got a pretty good size snow for Northeast TN over the weekend, so it called for me convincing my guys to get out in the snow for pictures.

As you can see, my family photos aren’t what some would consider to be perfect. They are a true reflection of who we are as a family in this season of life though. I’m the constant and steady one, generally always the same. My husband is the one that generally keeps us on our toes. Our son is a teenager and that alone speaks for itself. Our teen took all the photos of my husband and I, so 95% of them were out of focus. Thankfully, I’m a fan of selective focus photos though!

Your family photos don’t have to be perfectly posed, in focus, or everyone on their best behavior, they just have to tell your story. The best photos will be the ones you can look back on and remember what it felt like to be in that season of life.
