When it comes to lighting, hospitality and overall ambiance, these venues exceeded my expectations and deserved their 'moment in the sun' in your feed. As a photographer, I was elated to capture the most stunning wedding receptions, ceremonies, surprise proposals, and more. ✨
NYC
📍 Waverly Inn (Greenwich) : It's old world New York, tucked on a quiet Greenwich Village street. The back patio gives guests a 'secret' side entrance to the space, with ambient light spilling in through the glasshouse-like ceiling.
📍 Central Park (UES): What's there to say about the largest green oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle? Love it for the plethora of background options within walking distance.
📍 Freemans (LES): I'm a fan of hidden gems and I love street art, so this restaurant takes the cake. Tucked down a street art-lined path, enjoy a delicious meal with room for impromptu dancing on this venue's top floor.
Hoboken / Jersey City, NJ
📍Halifax (Hoboken): It's the best of both worlds: cityscape views within walking distance of the PATH. Their staff is 10/10 to boot. Bonus: Guests staying at the W Hotel have no reason to be 'running late' since it's in the same building!
📍Manhattan Yacht Club (Downtown Jersey City): Perfect for those wanting to 'self assemble' their event, this venue has a built-in rain option in case of rain, overlooking the Jersey City harbor.
Greater NJ / NY
📍 Deep Cut Gardens (Middletown Township, NJ): Permit required, this luscious estate and greenhouse gives a gorgeous backdrop for a surprise proposal or intimate gathering. For more info, peep theirhttps://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/page.aspx?Id=2518
📍 Sugar House (Chester, NY): Another hidden gem, this one just an hour outside of NYC. Owned and operated by Chef Douglas & wife Ayla, this venue can host events on every scale: from smaller rehearsal dinners to full weddings, and they'd gladly welcome you back for your anniversary dinner. Bonus: Chef Doug's curated menu is locally sourced, and takes your guests allergies seriously.
