Quick timelapse of last night! This is 72 photos over about half an hour, each 15s exposures.

What a show tonight! Here's a quick edit from my front yard. More to come! ...

Our final evening in France was quite pleasant as we found ourselves having an early dinner, not something you can do often in France! It led to some wonderful evening light for photos on the lake.

And that’s a wrap! Wow, that was a lot of posts, but we got through it. I promise I will try not to be so distant in 2026. No big trips planned, but hopefully I can get out more and share our wonderful world with you.

Day 10: Final day of the trip!. We spent most of the day walking around Annecy, but also took a short drive to a secluded vineyard north of the city. When we arrived, we were the only ones there, and they didn’t even look open. Fortunately, someone opened the door as were walked up, and we had a nice time sipping some wine. On our return, we stopped off at this amazing bridge that spanned a gorge several hundred feet below.

Still on day 9, we took a long drive along the lake to our dinner location, which would have had an amazing view of the lake and city from high atop a nearby mountain, but the clouds were too low and we were stuck in them with almost no visibility at the top! On our way, we passed a vista point for this amazing castle, Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, which some say was Walt Disney's inspiration for Sleeping Beauty Castle. If true, I think you can see why!

Day 9: Annecy is really the “Venice of the Alps,” as they call it, situated on Lake Annecy with canals running through the old town. We stayed in a great space just minutes from the lake and a short walk to the old town. The sights along the lake and the canals were just wonderful.

Day 8: I woke up feeling much better, and we toured Chamonix for the morning before heading out for our final destination of Annecy. On the way, we stopped off in Passy to have a picnic lunch and stumbled upon this beautiful waterfall, Cascade de Cœur. Arriving in Annecy, we spent our first afternoon walking along Lake Annecy and enjoying the sights and sounds of the “Venice of the Alps”.

Day 7: We had only planned to stay in Chamonix for 2 nights and one full day. The plan was to take a tram up to Aiguille du Midi, a complex of buildings perched high in the Alps at over 3800m. Unfortunately, I woke up sick that morning and spent most of the day in bed while my wife toured the town and went to the spa. We wouldn’t have seen much up on the mountain anyway, as a storm rolled in, but the evening before, I was able to grab these shots from outside of the town. You can see Aiguille du Midi in the second picture on the right side of the ridgeline.

Day 6: TRAVEL DAY! The route to our next destination took us through Italy and Switzerland under the Alps. Yes, I said under; over 5km through Tunnel Gran San Bernardo lato Italia! The first image was taken before the tunnel somewhere in Italy. The landscape the entire way was just incredible.

Exiting the tunnel in Switzerland, we were treated to the amazing view of Martigny (2nd pic) with mountains in the background, and grapevines draping the hillsides down to the valley.

Finally, after over 6 hours of driving, we reached our destination of Chamonix and the sight of snow, IN SEPTEMBER! We finished the day with an amazing massage and dinner at our hotel.
