Pileated woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus). These are one of the largest species of woodpecker native to North America and are becoming more and more common thankfully. In these pictures there are three young ones waiting for food to be brought back to them. Just a few days after I took these pictures all of the young left the nest and have been seen flying around with the parents learning how to fend for them selfs.

Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja). These birds used to be very common in Florida, Texas and parts of Louisiana. Now they are a species that’s not usually seen unless the fields flood from the seasonal rains or if you know where to look. I absolutely love their colors and try to photograph them anytime I see them. This picture was taken last December on the west coast of Florida.
