I need to take a moment for Miss Kaliyah. I covered this years county fair but she is also one of my seniors for 2027 so I made sure I was present to capture her as she competed at the Iowa State Fair.

She didn't get the crown but when I asked her mom if she was upset, her mom shared that she wasn't. She was thankful for the opportunity and enjoyed her fair experience, making new friends and meeting new people and just had a great time overall. I've learned in the short while I've been around her that she has an amazing outlook on life, she's positive and works hard. She's an athlete. She's kind and intelligent and not only cares for others but looks out for those around her. She values the experiences life hands her and learns what she can from them. And she has one of the biggest and most genuine smiles ever. She carries herself well, with style and grace. She holds her head up high at all times. She is beautiful inside and out. If that's not queen vibes, I don't know what is.

She went for it and ended up showing Iowa the kind of young lady we raise here in Greene County. One we can all be proud of.
