We LOVE these memories from 1957: 'deliberate impoundment began at Lake O' the Pines. In addition to the primary purpose of flood control, the land and water areas of the reservoir bring other public benefits, including the development of public use facilities, the conservation of fish and wildlife, and the provision of domestic and industrial water supply. Local, state, and federal agencies have cooperated in planning the development of areas for use by the public.'
