Another look at our time on the Washington coast with Misty Shipman and Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe! 🎬

This interview was one of several we captured for a documentary that’s still under wraps, so we can’t share too much just yet! We can say that the project is centered around an important mission for the Shoalwater Tribe. For these interviews we focused on shaping the lighting to reflect the overall tone and mood of the documentary.

Filmed along the beautiful Washington coast, this project is tied to an important mission for the Shoalwater Tribe. We can’t share much about the subject matter just yet, but we’re excited to eventually share more about what this project is working toward!

Swipe left to see how we get these results! 📸 🎬

We had an amazing mountain view outside the Airbnb, so we wanted to build the shot around it, but that brings the challenge of exposing the interior set to match the bright exterior.

We didnt have a roll of Neutral Density for the windows. So to accomplish this, we used the Aputure 1200x with a softbox and grid to light our subject, a Lightpanels Astra 1x1 for a warm edge, and an Aputure 600x to add some sunlight across the background. ☀️

Then a 12x24 cutter to help keep the light from reflecting in the windows. Having the right equipment on hand made this shot possible! Aputure Litepanels

We wanted these interviews to feel polished without losing that lived-in, personal feel, so finding the right spaces, framing, and natural light was a huge part of the process.

This one features Sarah Calhoun, owner of Red Ants Pants | Women’s Workwear, who was one of the many incredible voices we got to sit down with for the film! 👏
