The Payne family came to me with one of those ideas I wish every family would bring: “Can we do the nice family photos at our lake house… and then get on the boat and photograph the whole fam wake surfing?” YES. 😂

We started at their Smith Lake house with the whole family dressed up, grabbed the portraits for the wall, parents, siblings, the dog, all of it. Then everybody changed, we got on the boat, and the second half of the session basically turned into documenting an actual summer evening with them.

That is probably my favorite way to photograph a family. Get the clean portrait you know you want, then make room for the things that actually feel like your life. The boat. The wake. The kids taking turns behind it. Everybody piled together between runs. Those photos are going to mean something completely different years from now because they do not just show what everyone looked like — they show what this season felt like.

Okayyyy Studio 64!!! TEN YEARS!!! 🥹✨

When the ladies at studio 64 first reached out about celebrating 10 years, I fully thought we were talking about photographing a big party 😂 Once I realized we were actually planning a branding session for the whole Studio 64 team, I was even more excited.

This one was SO fun because we didn’t just take a few headshots and call it a day. We photographed the team together, everyone in their own element, the products, the tools, the services, the little behind-the-scenes things clients actually see when they’re sitting in the chair, and plenty of personality too.

And this one felt extra personal because Studio 64 isn’t exactly a stranger to me, I’ve been in their chair myself plenty of times! Getting to turn around and photograph the people behind a business I’ve actually experienced as a client made the whole session feel even more full-circle.

We started with clean, simple team photos in white + denim, switched things up with more colorful looks, worked our way through the salon for individual branding photos, and obviously had to celebrate TEN YEARS with the gold balloons and a little chaos at the end!!!

Branding photos should give you way more than a profile picture. They should give you months of content that actually shows people what it feels like to work with you.

Still love how much variety we packed into this session.

We started with that clean, polished downtown Jasper look and then shifted into something softer and more relaxed with all of the fall color and trees. Lexi told me ahead of time that she and Daylan were happy to trust me with posing, locations, and whatever ideas I wanted to try, and that trust always makes a session feel a little more freeing!

SENIORS!!! If your mom has been telling you it’s time to book your senior pictures… this is your sign 😂🤍

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is that they do NOT all have to look the same.

Give me the pretty greenhouse and flowers. Give me a field and a creek. Give me your school, your jersey, the locker room, your cap + gown. Give me the downtown look with clean architecture and something a little more dressed up.

Tori, Nate, and Erica’s sessions are three totally different examples of why I love senior photos so much, the whole point is making them feel like YOU.

Nate’s gallery brought in Jasper High School plus football and soccer. Erica wanted a senior session with both an outdoor/Jones Valley feel and downtown locations. And Tori’s bright greenhouse set is proof you can go completely soft, colorful, and feminine too.

So Class of 2027… I am READY for you!!! If you’re around Fayette, Winfield, Jasper, Tuscaloosa, or the surrounding West Alabama area and you’ve been putting off senior pictures, now is the time to get on my calendar!

One thing photographing moments like this has taught me is just how fast life can change. One minute you’re going about a normal day together, and the next you’re standing there with a ring on your hand realizing you’re actually getting MARRIED. 🤍

That’s why I love proposals so much. There’s this tiny window of time where everything is happening at once — the nerves beforehand, the moment they realize what’s happening, the shock, the happy tears, the hugs, and then that first little “oh my gosh, we’re engaged!!!” feeling afterward. It all happens SO quickly, but it’s the beginning of such a huge new chapter.

Life moves fast, and the really big moments somehow seem to move the fastest. So be present for them. Celebrate them. Take the pictures. Let yourself be excited and soak up the season you’re in, because before you know it, you’ll be looking back at these photos wondering how it all happened so quickly.

And if you’re planning to propose, consider this my official vote for having someone there to photograph it. 😂 You only get that reaction once, and it’s such a good one to keep forever.

The Lake Co. 2026!!! ☀️🌊

One of my favorite things about branding sessions like this is that we’re not just getting “product photos” we’re creating a whole little world around the brand.

For this Lake Co. shoot, that looked like colorful Smith Lake tees, kids running around, babies being passed from arm to arm, friends hanging by the pool, the guys down on the dock, and lots of those little in-between moments that make a summer day at the lake actually feel like summer.

That’s what I love about photographing a brand this way. You still get the photos that clearly show the clothes, colors, and details, but you also get the people wearing them, moving in them, laughing in them, and making them feel like part of real life instead of something sitting on a hanger.

I’ve gotten to photograph The Lake Co. across multiple launches now, and it is always so fun watching each shoot take on its own personality. This one felt bright, relaxed, a little chaotic in the best way, and very much like a day you’d actually want to spend at Smith Lake. 😂

If your business needs photos that show more than just what you sell but what it FEELS like to be part of your brand — this is exactly the kind of branding session I love creating.

The veil. The dock. The lake. I give you Bailey + Andrew. 🤍

Still not over these two!!!

Bailey knew from the beginning that she wanted alllll the veil photos and plenty of time by the dock at Lakeside Lodge, and I’m so glad we made it happen. We let the day unfold, worked around on and off rain showers, and made the most of the day!!
