We’ve watched him all summer long. On Thursday opening day Kenneth Powell sat a green field and seen 4 bucks and 8 does. That afternoon he knew the wind would change and given him the perfect wind to hunt the ridge. Just before dark the wind changed blowing right were his target bucks come in at. So he got down instead of him forcing it. He knew his target bucks would bust him and it would. Sure unnecessary pressure. On the way out he stopped to change a battery in a camera in a different location. At photo came in and all 4 target bucks were on the front green field.
The following day he hunted the afternoon and went to The Ridge. That’s were they normally show up every afternoon just before dark. Well once again they were on the front field.
So today, Saturday the 17th he only had plans to feed and come back on Monday to hunt it. As he arrived, the neighboring property was cutting hay and he knew there was no way he would see anything. One of his buddies told Kenneth that the bucks had been moving all day and he had better stay.
So giving into hunting pier-pressure😂
Kenneth chose to climb a tree in the old man stand. Before he could make it fully up the tree three does walked out onto the field. The problem with that is, his crossbow was still on the ground!!!!! A couple more passes with the tractor the deer were spooked off the field.
This gave Kenneth time to get his jacket and crossbow off the ground and in the tree, and that’s exactly what he did.
Around 5-5:15 a little 6 point stepped out behind him soon followed by the 7 point.
They worked the hill side feeding on acorns eventually making it up to the field.
Kenneth got him in the scope and squeezed on the trigger and BANG!!! Clean pass through!!
7 point trophy was hit. He ran off the field down an embankment approximately 60 yards and fell over.
