Meet Nikko!
Nikko was born on May 14 2015
He is the firstborn son..to Mindi and Kyle.
“Nikko since day one I always knew as his mother that he was angelic and filled a room with so much love with just his presence.. What I didn't know was Nikko would be diagnosed at 11 months with Tay-Sachs disease and our world would come crashing down around us...”
Nikko at around 6 mo wasn’t meeting his milestones and it seemed like there was something off.
Mindi suspected autism and contacted EI services in our area...
At 10 months they became really concerned as Nikko was not rolling or trying to crawl nor really babbling words however everyone insisted he was fine and Mindi had anxiety as a first time mom..
At 10 months Mindi took him to a neurologist and she diagnosed him with low muscle tone and referred them to a eye Dr for a suspected lazy eye, that eye Dr apt sent their world crashing and their hearts broke that very day as the Opthamologist looked at them and said Nikko had a red cherry spot in his eye.
This is a sign as a lysomal disease.
Well if you google red cherry spot in eye, Tay-sachs is the first thing that shows up and Nikko had many symptoms. Mindi prayed and pleaded with God 2 weeks later our fears were confirmed our little perfect boy would die by 3 yrs old.
At this time, Mindi was also 7.5 months pregnant and told her unborn child could also be positive for this same disease.
June 1 right before she gave birth to her second child, the test came back negative....baby Izaiah would not have Tay-Sachs disease .
Mindi and Kyle were spared one more heartache...
Mindi writes,
“With love there is always a fight, always hope and that is how we get through each day...
We fight and win and some days we lose, but Nikko fights through it all and that is why he is my superhero my SuperNikko!!”
Nikko is surrounded with love!
Mindi doesn’t let the daily grind get to her because this is their life and reality!
She explains,
“I'm so lucky my husband is such a amazing loving father and provider...
Nikko's little brother Izaiah loves to snuggle and kiss him and show him off to everyone he meets...
Together as a family we are
❤️!”
Yesterday I️ had the honor of meeting this beautiful family!
At this point, Nikko is defying the odds which the doctors have given him!
We captured some Priceless Forever family portraits!
A week ago, Nikko was not doing very well and spent almost all last Sunday in the hospital getting stable enough to go back home.
Yesterday, he showed me how much he is truly loved and blessed to have his momma and daddy!
He has the eyes of an angel and all the best features that show he is an Angel on Earth!
Blessed I️ am to be able to grant families of terminally ill family members these FOREVER portraits! ❤️
