Fall sports have finally arrived! My first game of the 2026 fall season landed me in Frewsburg as Frewsburg Varsity Girls Soccer hosted Southwestern in non-league action! Two late goals in the final three minutes of regulation lifted the Bears to a season opening 3-1 win!

With the new fall sports season getting underway this week, I am once again sharing my Venmo here. I do take priority booking at $75/game, but any donation you’re willing to make helps me offset costs for me to provide coverage for games.

I want to keep providing a service to parents and athletes, and anything to help me cover equipment and travel costs helps tremendously 🙂

I’ll provide the link as well: https://venmo.com/u/akolstee21

Third straight year I’ve gotten to do media day for the Lady Golden Cougars - and these gals were absolute rockstars as usual. Pumped for the season to start next week!

Normally for World Photography Day I would pick some of my favorite photos to post - everyone loves to see your best work, and it’s also a sense of satisfaction.

I do also think it’s also a good thing sometimes to look back on how far you have come.

I got my first camera in late 2018 - a Canon Rebel T6. These photos were some of my earliest train photos and sports action shots.

The process is long. It took years for me to nail down proper settings, how to compose photos, and also having an eye for the action and seeing a moment develop before you capture it. But that’s the thing - we all have to start somewhere.

It hasn’t been a perfect journey for me - there’s a lot to learn and if you put the time in to learn - it will be very rewarding.

I learned early on to be open to constructive criticism - I am rather fortunate to be surrounded by some incredibly talented photographers that have helped me get better, and I still learn new things from them all the time.

My advice to any new photographer is that exact thing - do not be afraid to take constructive advice from the guys who have been doing this for a long time. We all have the opportunity to learn new things - even the experienced guys are learning new things just like us! Keep shooting, keep finding ways to get better, and never be afraid to ask questions or seek out advice. There’s plenty of people - myself included - willing to help.

Everything I learned has been from either the help of fellow photographers or even YouTube - there are great people on YouTube that provide insightful advice from everything from equipment to settings to editing, and everything else that goes into it.

I started a YouTube playlist when I first started researching that I thought were helpful, and they absolutely can be helpful for you too.

Came across this on Instagram, had a good laugh at this.

If you expect any photographer/videographer to PAY to come shoot your games, especially high school, you are horribly mistaken. Objectively hilarious that anyone would think this is a good idea.

On top of that, you’re not getting any creatives to come shoot for you if you’re just going to use AI slop to make your poster because you can’t ask a student to make a poster like this.

Over the weekend, I traveled down to Richmond for this year's NASCAR race. As tradition for almost anywhere I go, my camera came with me.

Unforunately, rain forced the Friday night Truck race to be ran Saturday afternoon. Kaden Honeycutt led all but 25 laps on his way to victory.
