On World Autism Day, I want to speak to the parent who may have just heard the diagnosis and isn’t quite sure what to do or what it means for your kiddos future ( this was honestly my biggest worry).
Let me tell you what it doesn’t mean.
It doesn’t mean your child won’t ever communicate ( there are multiple ways in which one communicates and it’s not always with words). It doesn’t mean they won’t thrive in their own beautiful way. And it definitely does not mean they aren’t incredibly smart!
Autism doesn’t have one look. It’s not one story. It’s a journey that will stretch you, grow you, and teach you more love and patience than you ever knew you had.
For us, what has carried us through is prayer, family, and learning to advocate for our sweet girl until she can fully advocate for herself.
If you’re in that beginning stage, just breathe. Take it one day at a time. Hold your baby close. Everything will be okay.
You have been given a mind that is honest, sometimes extra honest 😅, deeply beautiful, and uniquely wired🥹🙌🏾
Nurture them. Love them. Learn them.
And then sit back and watch them grow 🧩
