Today is World Art Day! I’d never heard of it before, but in looking for more information, it celebrates Leonardo DaVinci’s birthday, and encourages strengthening the link between artistic creations and society. This year’s theme is: "A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art".

I’ve been very blessed to work as an artist in many capacities- as a photographer, floral designer, a graphic artist, home stager, and just overall, a person with a “good eye”.

I have challenged myself this year to go more ‘analog’ and have been watercoloring and exploring new mediums like chalk pastels and gauche paint. I’ve been enjoying making things and being able to hold the art in my hands and gifting it to others. I still love creating special portraits through photography, as well, even though fewer people are interested in allowing me to order finished printed pieces for them these days. I just hope that clients do print my work, and doesn’t only live in digital formats. Printed portraits offer tangible legacy, emotional connection, and permanent home decor, all so important!

On this day, I encourage everyone to think about the ways art impacts your life, incorporate more creativity into your everyday, and print more photos!

Gerica and Brock are such a cute couple, and huge animal advocates, so when Gerica asked if I could capture her sweet dogs, I was so excited to be able to have the opportunity! Gerica usually is the one who brings out the Paws Jackson dogs and is an amazing help when I'm photographing them- she directs them, gives treats, comforts them, and as a result, often appears in many of the images I capture. She's amazing! Brock has had his turn bringing a dog out for PAWS as well, and is so good with them as well. Thanks for trusting me to photograph you!
