This little mare has my bestie in an absolute chokehold, and honestly? I’m SO glad she ended up with Zoe.
Because beneath all the anxiety, bad habits, and constant fight-or-flight reactions was a horse begging for someone to actually listen to her instead of just reacting to her.
This mare didn’t trust. She pulled back when tied, struggled to load, constantly stayed braced up and defensive because that’s what happens when horses are handled without patience, understanding, or emotional regulation. Horses don’t magically become “crazy” for fun. They reflect the handling they receive.
And Zoe? She gave this horse her brain back. She taught her how to regulate, how to slow down, how to think instead of panic. She put weight on her, fixed her diet, stayed fair with her, and never punished her for being overwhelmed. THAT is horsemanship.
The funniest part is the people with the guiltiest consciences are always the loudest with their little indirect posts and side comments online. If you truly stood behind your handling and your choices, you wouldn’t feel the need to throw rocks from the shadows at people who literally have nothing to do with a horse that isn’t even yours anymore.
Some people in the horse world really need to spend less time making vague TikToks and more time educating themselves on proper handling, emotional regulation, and accountability. Because horses remember every unfair hand they’ve ever had.
Anyway… proud of Zoe, proud of this mare, and very thankful she landed where she did. Growth looks good on her. 💋💜✨
