I'm back mfs!!! It has been a long time since I have had anything to do with photography.
In the past I have always had someone else (a man... Different ones at different times) trying to give me their input on my projects or work... They have tried to "guide" me and "help" me, but in doing so they managed to derail and take my focus off of WHAT I WANT AND WHAT I FEEL. This time I WILL NOT LET THAT HAPPEN! THIS TIME IT WILL BE ALL ME! In the past I have allowed others to try to tell me what my vision and focus should be and it has never turned out well. Never again. I will follow my heart and intuition from now on!
I have decided that even though I took a long unscheduled and unwanted break from my passion, I really want to reintegrate this passion, this vision, this talent back into my life.
I want to spend time rebuilding this brand. I want to rebuild my name and reputation in regards to the art of photography. During my break, I've tried my hand at other types of visual art, but I have come to realize that even though I can't draw worth a damn, I feel like I really, truly am a talented photographer and artist in other ways.
Punkbelle will not be the only brand I will be working on, but it will be a priority. It may be slow going at first as I get my act together, but I can and will do this.
Punkbelle will focus on alternative photography such as goth, pinup, and possibly bo***ir. Although I have to say that my skills in the bo***ir department definitely need some brushing up on, I will get there.
With all of that said, when the time comes if there is anyone who would like to collaborate on any of the above mentioned type projects... Please reach out to me! If you have any ideas for any other types of projects you can reach out to about that as well.
I would also like to start a project that focuses on portraits and family photography. For this particular area, I would like to have a focus on things like kids in their natural environment (animals...lol jk) and families in normal every day events (captured in a way that shows the beauties of every day ordinary life). I also want to use this focus for capturing and sharing special moments in life as well. I want to capture milestones in a family's life. Pregnancy, birth, parties, family reunions, generations, unique high school senior photos and anything else family related.
For those of you who know me well, you know that I have had a crazy ass life, but throughout most of my life (until 2 1/2 years ago) I had a very special bond and relationship with my grandmother. I have photos of her that I took (just because) and they were some of the best photos I have ever taken. I want to be able to give that gift to others.
The other thing I want to dabble in is candid street photography. I want to be the eyes of my community. Even though there is so much beauty and good things in life, there are also Soo many things that aren't that beautiful, things that are painful, things people want to sweep under the rug. As much as we all need to see the beauty in life, we need to be aware of the pain and the things around us that aren't so beautiful. The thing about that is .... Even those things can be beautiful.
Aside from photography, writing is something I have been passionate about almost ALL of my life. The final project will be to get to know people experiencing hardships in life and tell their story thru photography and writing.
I spent some time with a certain group of women who were in really rough places in their lives and I felt this strong need to share some of the things these women have experienced. During my time with these women, I realized that not only are they beautiful and may have forgotten that, but they have stories that deserve to be told. This will be a very personal and special project for me.
