I got to partner with last week for a little food and fun tour through historic downtown St. Marys!
This charming coastal town is the perfect day trip from Jacksonville! You’ll want to ditch your car and explore on foot, or rent a golf cart like we did. Think local shops, cozy restaurants, brick paths and oak-lined streets, a waterfront park, and buildings dating back to the 18th century.
A few spots we visited:
• Riverwalk Pizzeria - good pizza, easy, family-friendly
• St. Marys Harbor - brick paths, shaded benches, and swings face the water, while boats drift in and out of the harbor
• Oak Grove Cemetery - peaceful, beautiful, and full of history (graves dating back to 1801)
• Kraken Coffee & Kitchen Co. - hands down the BEST coffee in town (order lunch ahead if you’re catching the ferry over to Cumberland Island)
• Riverview Hotel - built in 1916 and conveniently located right across from the harbor
• Locals Dockside - fresh seafood with even better views
• St. Marys Antique Mall - treasures for days
• The Cafe at Cottle & Gunn - an unexpected lunch spot inside a vintage store
• Alive After 5 - a monthly “sip, stroll, and shop” night with food trucks and live music
And if you have time, don’t skip Cumberland Island! I’ll do another reel about visiting the island. It’s just a ferry ride from the St. Marys Harbor, and wild horses, quiet beaches, maritime forests, and the haunting ruins of Dungeness make it feel like another world.
