Sargent’s Purchase. The highest recorded wind speed ever naturally recorded lives here at 231 mph. Known for “the worst weather in the world”, this mountaintop sure is a doozy, and it makes you earn your keep. Lucky for me, it was a breeze.

Walk the line. Do you ever wonder what animals think? Like what goes through a cub’s mind when her mother decides it’s time to move on? Or does a whale process another world exists above the water line? Do cattle ever stop and smell the roses? And does this one realize how amazing its backyard is?

Little House on the Prairie. The more I am in nature the more I want to remain in it. Something about the connection to being withdrawn and the calmness that ensues from detachment. While the irony of this message on this platform certainly draws skepticism, happiness finds its strongest place when attention is centered, distraction is removed, and nature takes its course.

Cycle. As the slopes slip into spring, snow caps fade and ski poles give way to trekking substitutes. Each season rejuvenates the soul in preparation for the next wave of adventure. For me, yesterday marked a new era by way of .5mL to the left deltoid; thankful.

Tribute. A lot changes in a year. People come and people go. Some are taken, others leave. Impermanence is a milestone we all encounter yet ignore. Embracing death makes life better, as it enables us to pause along our journey and perceive what is present. How often do we say if only we had one extra day, one more experience, one last goodbye? Is it because we took for granted the moments we did have? My advice: acknowledge death, talk about it, remind yourself of it, and live every day knowing you won’t get yesterday back. Appreciate the mundane, lift each other up, give that hug out and take that trip so that when this day finally arrives, you can smile and look back on all those moments knowing you lived as you should. For you, Eric.

Adrift. I am fascinated by many things in decay. Wood especially so because it shows the many layers of decomposition. The story behind this shipwreck is less exciting; its owner drove it ashore in hopes of repairing the vessel, but alas, things didn’t go according to plan. Instead, I like to think the captain posted up at high tide in search of opportunity, natives welcomed him/her, they had a good laugh over trials and tribulations, some tea, and decided the boat would better be served as a town landmark many years later to be passed down through social media. They lived happily ever after. The end.

Napa Roots. We may come for the tannins and Michelin star ratings, but the unsung heroes of wine country truly are the vintage homes and expansive landscapes just outside of town. Some say this place is too classy for Country Boyz or Po’ Folks, but I say Aw Nah, everyone from Roun’ the Globe can have a Good Day.

Process. The GG is such a well documented bridge, it’s hard to see the icon any other way than how many present it. I challenged myself to experience it from new perspectives in order to seek out lesser known views. Now, tie that thought into politics and we all become better people.
