Beautiful black bear came to visit this morning, but unfortunately he was after trash since due to drought & an early summer freeze wild food sources like berries aren’t as plentiful this year. Because of our bear-proof can, he didn’t get any food reward & went on his way. With the low berry crop this year, it’s more important than ever to keep human food sources locked down so our bears stay wild, free and safe. It’s up to us to make coexistence possible. Thank you Wyoming Wildlife Advocates & Jackson Hole Bear Solutions for providing these cans.

Shoulder-deep in mud & fully committed.

This coastal brown bear was digging deep into an Alaska tidal flat & she came up with exactly what she was looking for: a delicious juicy clam.

Bears are incredibly adaptable foragers, taking advantage of whatever food is available throughout the season. Before the salmon run starts, that can
mean putting powerful paws and long claws to work digging for clams buried way below the surface.

Messy? For sure. Worth it? Clearly!

These Alaskan brown bear cubs are crying because they wanna nurse. Mom wants to keep moving for now — but she’ll settle them when she’s ready and it’s safe. Getting to hear bears vocalize like this is rare — they’re often quiet, so a moment this loud and expressive is pretty special.

Grizzly bear 610 chuffing (aka huffing) this morning while looking for her second little one. These 2 crossed the road and the other cub was so busy digging for breakfast he didn’t notice. We don’t hear bears vocalize too often and when we do, it’s extra cool. Not to worry though, her other cub caught up moments later and all was well. Stay tuned for the photos from this awesome encounter!
