I wanted to share a memory with you guys.
This photo was taken back in 2020, nearly 4 years ago. I was still doing fashion photography at the time. Still living in good ole Trenton, Tennessee. I worked at Subway for 7.50 and I was damned good at my job.
Thats not what this post is about, but a moment I had with a customer at the drive thru window. If I recall correctly, I was on the line and not at the register, but when that window opened I hear a lady go “ARE YOU SHAE COLE?” and my first thought was ‘now who the hell did I p**s off’ bc I do be doing that lol. Anywho I responded back that I was and she followed it up with “I FOLLOW YOU ON FACEBOOK. I LOVE YOUR WORK.” and that just made me so happy.
That was the first time someone I didn’t know recognized me in public from the photos I created. At the time, I was strictly doing fashion. I wasn’t a wedding photographer yet, nor was I doing couples or families. She recognized me and appreciated the art I put out.
And that made me so happy.
The moral of the story is:
Someone is always watching, even when you think they aren’t. Someone out there loves what you do and admires you, even when you think no one does. Because you don’t hear the noise, don’t mean there’s none being made. Don’t give up on your craft, don’t conform or shrink yourself to fit on someone’s plate. You are dessert. The true final course. You’re the something sweet not many think they want but love when they get a taste; on your own plate.
So keep going, creatives. You are doing amazing and there’s no one like you. If you ever get discouraged, just come back and read this again. ✨

Anywho! I hope that lady is having a great day and life is treating her well. I just wanted to share that with you guys.
Have a great day! 🖤
