I've been up Canaan Mt many times but I've never done the technical route through Water Canyon until now! A surprise that day was meeting some French speaking Tahitians who were in Utah to do a bunch of canyons for the first time.

It's been several years since I've been on a road trip in Utah that offered completely new scenery, so it was delightful to drive out the The Hondu, a huge arch in the San Rafael Swell.

The new Avi Kwa Ame National Monument has hundreds of petroglyphs in the Spirit Mountain area. This sacred area is made up of a granitic intrusion that is carving into large geometric blocks and shapes.

The trek to the amazing Mystery and Camelhead Arches crosses what might be the most extreme landscape I've explored in Utah. And I made some new friends along the way!

A trip up Camp Creek Canyon, the northwestern most canyon inside Zion National Park. Camp Creek is less visited with a poor reputation of scenery. But if you get up above the vegetation that blocks the views, it's just as pretty as the rest of the Kolob Canyons. And it has a HUGE arched wall near the back of the canyon.

This winter I finally got around to exploring Transview Mountain, the most southern area of Zion National Park. Some areas of the mountain to both the east and west, and the north, are closed to travel but with some effort to pass through the boring areas there's a lot of rewarding scenery.

This was an epic day in the Virgin River Gorge where I did some via ferrata and a tyrolean traverse, both for the first time. I'm not even sure what this route is called but it might be Old Route 55.

About a year ago I visited the Kane Springs petroglyphs. They are very nice and there were a lot more panels than I was expecting.
