Another grey winter day in Iowa so a good time to watch high school wrestling. This time I returned to my alma mater where I wrestled 50 years ago, to watch and photograph the South Tama County (STC) Trojan girls in a Duals competition against Solon and Marion. It was nostalgic being in the old high school gym again.

A lot of fun action at the Soldier Salute Wrestling Tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville this past week. I could only attend day 1 on Friday, but here are some of my shots of the action, including Iowa Women and Men, Iowa State and UNI Men. I love living so close to so many great athletic competitions!

A lot of good wrestling the past few weeks for the City High and South Tama County girl wrestlers. Some scrambles end up with some twisted positions. Fun to watch the fierce competition and how it gives these young women confidence as they face their battles!

Some exciting matches for the City High Girls Wrestling team at the Linn-Mar tournament on Saturday. Very tough competition but we held our own with a very young and inexperienced team. Go Little Hawks!!!

Freshman Autumn Elsbury made STC proud today as she recorded a fast pin in the wrestle backs today on day 2 of the State Wrestling Tournament. Being coached by her dad made it an even sweeter victory. Now she gets to watch big sister Maeley wrestle for the Championship at 135 tonight.

A lot of good action as the City High Little Hawks compete at the Liberty Invitational Wrestling Meet. Crowned one champion and several other place winners. Only the first year of wrestling for many of the girls and the first year of sanctioned girls wrestling in Iowa this year!
