There are some trails where the views don’t wait for you to earn them.

White Point Lookout was one of those places. The scenery begins even before you reach the trailhead, winding through the quaint little fishing village of White Point and along the beautiful Nova Scotia coast.

Once on the trail, the walk out to the point is easy—and the reward is almost immediate. Rugged pinkish cliffs, brilliant green grass, deep blue water and endless ocean views make it hard to believe you’re not looking at a painting.

Sometimes the best adventures aren’t the hardest ones. Sometimes they’re simply the ones that make you stop, look around, and say, “Wow.” 💙

And that last photo? Sunrise in this same beautiful area. Another reminder of why we love this nomadic life.

Missing 🍁 Canada and its commitment to

♻️ ♻️ REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE ♻️ ♻️

One of the things that really stood out to us during our three months traveling through Canada was the commitment to keeping the country clean and reducing waste. 🇨🇦♻️

Recycling wasn’t something we had to go looking for. It was simply part of everyday life.

At campgrounds, parks, communities and along the road, we frequently found clearly marked places to separate recyclables, organics and garbage. Even small communities seemed to make an effort to make recycling convenient.

But what struck us wasn’t just the recycling.

We also noticed less visible litter and a greater sense of respect for trails, beaches, parks and other public spaces. People seemed to understand that these places belong to all of us—and that taking care of them is part of enjoying them.

Not to say that Canada’s recycling is perfect, but after three months traveling thousands of miles, these little things became noticeable.

And they made us think about how much our everyday environment is shaped by the habits we collectively choose to make normal.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impression.

Since returning to the States we’ve camped in Piscataquis County in north-central Maine; Coös County, New Hampshire and neither one had a recycling program (that we could find) except that the campground would collect ONLY cans that had a return value. Here in Litchfield Connecticut they have one recycling bin at the Campground but haven’t seen anything out in the public. In Inverness the recycling program is so remote most seniors I know can’t reach it and most families don’t have the time.

Why is this? What is the biggest obstacle to the little things that can make such a huge difference and WHY haven’t we figured this out?

“The adventures may be what we photograph…but the ordinary days are what make the adventures possible.”

Not every day is an adventure day.🥾

When your home is also your mode of transportation—and you’re traveling for 8 months, moving from one place to another—you eventually have to stop and let your body catch up.

And, perhaps even more importantly, you have to take care of the things that make this lifestyle work.

Laundry.
Housekeeping.
RV maintenance.
Cleaning up the hiking gear.
Reorganizing the cabinets.
Putting everything back where it belongs.

Basically…all those wonderfully glamorous things that come with living in a house on wheels. 😂

So today is one of those days.

No mountain summit.
No epic hike.
No sightseeing.

Just laundry, RV housekeeping, gear cleanup and getting our little home back in order.

But is it really a “down” day?

I don’t think so.

Because this is RV life, too.

The adventures may be what we photograph…

…but the ordinary days are what make the adventures possible. ❤️
