I wanted to share a view from Central Park that caught my eye. A dusk-blue skyline rises above a glassy pond, the towers doubled in a near-perfect reflection. Bands of indigo and violet give way to warm pinpoints of window and lamplight that look like small constellations among the trees. The shoreline of mature trees frames the high-rises, and faint ripples and drifting clouds keep the scene quietly alive. I climbed San Francisco’s steep streets before dawn to find a quiet corner where the trolley pauses. The blue hour brought a cool hush and the warm interior light and wet pavement held soft reflections that felt honest, not staged. I found the evening in Milford Sound settling into soft bands of peach and muted gold. A central, pyramid-like summit anchors the view and its near-perfect mirror on the water, while low clouds thread between ridges and soften the scene.
