We lost our sweet Dad just after midnight, Monday June 23.

I am grateful for our family and friends who rallied around us and showed him nothing but tender, genuine care in an otherwise uncertain landscape. There was just as much laughter in that room as there were tears, and that’s a true testament to who Dad was and how he would have wanted us to celebrate his life.

I am grateful that I happened to be working in Pittsburgh this weekend and was able to arrive home in half the time it would normally take, and I am grateful that I could be there to witness his last breaths just as he was there to witness my first.

How fortunate are we to have had the most incredible Dad and that we had so many years with him to collect memories that we’ll keep forever. I will treasure each and every one.

I am shattered, but grateful. Fortunate. I love you to the moon and back, Dad. I’ll be seeing you.
